I have converted an electric fly-swat to be an cattle-prod type thing...as per the instructions on Tanos's web-site. One problem I have though....the 2 pin plug connector does not fit tightly into the top of the fly swat handle. Does anyone have any good ideas as to how I can secure it? I was going to try super-glue tomorrow - but I wonder if there could be a better method?

I trim the plug down so it fits in the end better and then use epoxy glue to stick it in place. Although I just glue it to one side so I can always take it apart again. Then screw it back together and use electrical tape on the glued end to hold it together there. I always behave. I just don't specify how.

DIY cattle? I got as far as the Blue Peter advent crown and Tracey Island - but cattle? Damn that sounds complicated! Why would you want to prod them?

The trouble with this one is that the electronics are very near the top - so not much room to insert the plug. I'll try some epoxy tomorrow! Was also thinking that maybe some wide heat-shrink might help?

The ones I've done the electronics are near the bottom, but there is a screw hole part near the top and the plugs have been a little wide to slot in nicely. So I cut away the bit the screw goes through and cut/file away part of the plug so it slots into the handle better. If there isn't much room to hold the plug in then I might look at putting a couple of strips of something on either side of the handle to help hold the plug in place. I always behave. I just don't specify how. |
