Hmmm, just checked the girlchild over, and sure enough she has The Pox! Of the chicken variety... if any parents out there have any useful hints/tips and tricks in dealing with this I'd appreciate it!

Calamine lotion is your friend! Oh and dont let her scratch cos she will scar. Especially on the face. (RAH)² (AH)³ + RO (MA + MAMA) + (GA)² + OOH(LA)² = Bad Romance

yup true but here is an idea i used... put it in a spray bottle ... stand her naked in the bath and spray ...1 it gets everywhere fast ... 2 she will be a little more amenable to using it chaos mayhem and desaster......my work here is done

Get her to tell you when she feels a spot coming up and you can watch it together - great fun! Apart from that - don't scratch.

poor little thing...i would make sure her nails are cut very short as no matter how much we try to stop them scratching, they always do..also only put cotton clothes on her,let her wear as little as poss, vest and pants maybe as getting hot makes the itching ten times worse.a small dose of piriton syrup also helps...and good luck!!! to give pain is my pleasure......

And plenty of Calpol for when she's feeling grotty. Cool baths are great too. Ah semen. What is it about that ridiculous white secretion that pulls down the corners of an Englishman's mouth?

I had CP on my 21st birthday last year. It was hell, didn't sleep for an entire week! I was alsways advised not to have a bath because it softens the skin and if you take off one of the scabs it will leave a crater like scar.

flower of sulphur flakes in her bath (a cool bath). it's yellow, so she'll have a yellow bath, but it works a treat... The only people who can split us up is US!

Two of my children have just recovered from The Pox! Calamine lotion soothes but dries powdery and then gets rubbed off so I found it didn't work for long. What I did use was Aqueous Cream with Calamine - it's thicker so stays on longer and seems to sooth just as well as the lotion. I also found a big lump of it in a warm/cool bath helped ease the itching too. |
