This morning, i arrived at school with the kids as normal. A lady i recognised, but couldn't immediately place came up to me and as soon as she started talking i realised she is my daughter's violin teacher cool, i thought. She asked me if she could expect the cheque for the lessons today. i said, actually i had sent it in with my daughter on 29th April, so she should already have it. No, says she, not had, not banked, she shouldn't give another lesson until she had it... Well, i am not that good at paying things for school on time...these things are expensive and so i sometimes have to wait until i physically CAN pay before i write cheques... However, THIS time i DID pay on time and so being told i hadn't made me feel awful. She suggested we go up to the school office so that she could double check her tray and to ask the secretaries if they had seen it. Of course, it wasn't there and the school admin staff looked at me as though i was lying. i asked my daughter if she was sure she had handed it in with the invoice and she said yes...i believe her. So there i am, in reception at school, being given the equivalent of a telling off! i just wanted to shout THIS IS SOOOO UNFAIR I HATE YOU! but of course you can't do that can you lol!

Came home, cried, pulled myself together, writing this, will eat some breakfast then go for a run. The rest of my day will be fine, rant over. God that feels better!

edited to add - yes, when Sir does school humiliation scenes they are HOT, but this was definitely not lol!

Good to get it all out eh? I do that too when things get challenging.

Here's a big STRONG hug...(POW!!!)

I can't afford any type of music lessons for my daughter. The school asked me if I wanted singing lessons for her and I explained I couldn't do it. The school wanted to develop her, so they funded it themselves. She gets one lesson a week with a real singing teacher. You could always go back and ask?

Your bank will know if your cheque has been cashed or not?...if not, looks like the school misplaced it and should be apologising.

Had to smile..... being marched to reception to check the details didn't sound fun, it was a dose of humiliation for you. I can imagine you shuffling behind the teacher.

Some people on here would love that!

I would want to know if my sub/slave had something on their mind. Part of the role (as I see it) is to support.. so I would definitely want to know so I could give you that support.

Check with the bank if the cheque has been cashed. If not, get them to cancel it. Then have a word with your child's teacher and say that your child loves violin lessons but you're struggling to afford it, you'd be surprised by how helpful and supportive they can be in those situations.

It's not a pleasent situation and I really empathise. I've found quite a few of the office staff at my children's school to revel in humiliating parents. Don't let it upset you, bypass them and go straight to your child's teacher.

I've been in the same situation, my daughter wanted and had a few music lessons but I had to stop them because I couldn't afford them any longer – and I got behind with the payments too, there wasn't anything such as the school funding them back then, so my daughter taught herself.

It might be worth checking around in post offices as some people advertise there to give music lessons and they may be cheaper, more likely to be one on one and for longer – just an idea!

I'm sure your run will help clear your head.

Have a good day

Also try the local music shops.

People will advertise lessons in there and should be open to negotiation regarding prices.
