Google is your friend.

Google is my friend. Says they work to dampen sound as it reflects off surfaces such as walls.

It's science.

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: Why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: Why not marry safe science if you love it so much.

I could be wrong, but I believe Mistress Annabel works from sound proof chambers. Her Web Address is:

http://www.mistressannabel.com/

P.S. If there is a window in the room, secondary glazing, with a large space between the window and the secondary glazing (which could be a perspex sheet) works very well. This is something I discovered, quite by accident, when I used a large perspex sheet for secondary glazing, to keep out cold and drafts, in an old flat of mine. I was surprised to find that I was keeping out the noise of the traffic outside my window too. The optimum space is three or four inches, I believe.

Soundproofed chambers

hello all,

I was having a conversation with another Mistress recently on the possibility of soundproofing our chambers. Many Pro-Dommes advertise "fully soundproofed chambers", but how common is this? It sounds (no pun) like a hell of an investment, specially if you consider thtat most chambers are rented, not bought.

However, maybe I'm being let behind with the times and let's be honest, none of us would want to disturb the neighbours or attract unwanted attention with ghoulish yelling and screams, do we? Because as we all know, otherworldly screaming and yells for mercy are the trademarks of a good Pro-Domme.

So, who works form soundrpoofed chambers? And how was that undertaken, who did you call to do such sensitive job in a dungeon/studio/chambers, and how much did you pay? And do you know of any kink-friendly professionals that you could recommend?

To control the source of sound, by always gagging your slaves before you start beating them, perhaps?

Yah. I did notice that the top like said, "It doesn't work" and the next link down said it did. Funnily enough a lot of the sites with ads linking to places you could get soundproofing materials from said it didn't work.

The internet is where lies are born I tells you. If it didn't have so much porn on it we should all rise up and burn it to the ground.

If you want to totally sound proof a room it would cost mega bucks. How ever it is relatively easy to reduce the levels of noise escaping through the walls floor ect with polystyrene slabs and other insulating materials. You also need to take care with any equipment that is attached to the structure of the room or that sits on the floor, and as I found out central heating fittings. I have done this work a couple of times and had good results. I would be happy to give you (or anyone else) more info if you memo me.

My Mistress, Mistress Geo Pinch is finishing her new dungeon in Bristol which has been professionally soundproofed and yes it cost quite a bit. She did a lot of research on the internet beforehand into differing sound proofing and insulation etc and learnt that differing sounds provide differing noise wavelengths and needed differing levels, so the proofing had to work with loud smacks, shrieks and thuds.

Buying soundproofing trade in just the right amount - measure areas carefully and giving it to a builder to fit helped keep costs down.

The builders were just told it was a workshop which had to be soundproofed for noisy tools and she was told that you would be able to murder someone in there and no-one could hear. Just the job eh! Can't wait to be guinea pig to test it all.

Pro submissive & switch with great dungeon & LOTS of toys!

I used two 2 inch layers of Rockwool acoustic slab behind strawboard, inside a breeze block wall, when I did my garage as an office: more to protect against the noise of a duplicator running in the early hours than for the screams from my office-girls, but it works equally well for both!

It is a bit more expensive than the same volume of fibreglass insulation, and just as good at thermal insulation, so if you have to insulate for temperature as well as sound, as with Mistress Geo's studio, it doesn't add that much to the bill.

Egg boxes do not work for sound proofing and are ineffective for sound adsorption, it's the shape of them which is referred to as being effective for sound diffusion.

Symbols can never be what it is they represent.

Has anyone investigated electronic soundproofing like that used in noise cancelling headphones?
