I'd really like to *be* Salander... :-D

I've nearly finished the second book and have on order the third. It's been a long time since I have read a 'can't put it down book' and so far these books fit into that category.

I'm reading it now and it's the most engaging read I've had in ages. The proof is that I will have read it in about 9 days which for a book of that length is a record for me.

I have to say though that the first book took me until p.250 to get into it - but it delivered in the end...big time.

I'm already getting that feeling where I know it's going to leave a gap in my life when I've finished the trilogy.

Does anyone else get like that about good novels?

How do you know you will have read it in nine days? You might drop it in a puddle. Or lose it. Or the writing might get smaller and smaller as you get closer to the end, so you get more words on the page. Might sound silly, but have you checked?

Conversely, the writing might get larger... you might finish it tomorrow.

... when I picked up the book it just seemed to remind me of somebody from this website... wonder if you can guess who? ;-)

(Only a tangential reference to BDSM in the book by the way. Not my usual read. Okay but not a great book IMHO...)

Similar hair cut but that is all.

Interesting that you'd say so. I appreciate her resourcefulness, but she's one of the last people I'd want to be.

The books are refreshing and eminently readable and I think it's fun that he treats sexual "deviance" so casually. I've not read the third book yet, but I look forward to it.

So enthralled with book one i got the others as soon as i could and promptly finished book two after a marathon reading session and am currently half way through book three with sleep and work interfering with a bloody good read. Disappointed with the stereotyping of sadists though.

To be honest, having loved the first book (my review of it is here) I got so annoyed with the self indulgent longeurs of the first half of the second that I didn't finish it and haven't bothered to read the third.

I gather that the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has now been filmed; I'd be interested to see how well it's been done.
