"Greetings fabulous, sexy colleagues, friends and allies!
Have you been enjoying London Sex Weekend? -------- Yes?
Great! So have we - it's been wonderful to revel in the sex positive atmosphere in our capital city this weekend.
I've got some questions for you all, so pay attention at the back!
Do you think the British Government should dictate how consenting adults get excited, or turned on, or how we get it on? No?
Do you think it should be ok to imprison consenting adults for their sexual practices, or for possessing fantasy images made by consenting adults? No?
Then get involved in CAAN and help us do something about it! Or at least support us by signing up to our statement of principles on our website which I'll give you later. People from alternative, or out and proud, sex, fetish and relationship communities, industries and scenes need to fight back - however we can - and that's what our network is all about.
From Operation Spanner in the 1980's, to the extended vetting and banning extreme porn in 2009, the political climate in Britain has become increasingly sex-negative. A succession of sexually repressive governments have been trying to regulate our sexualities, excluding and imprisoning people, because of interests and activities which affect nobody except those adults who choose to be involved.
The ban on personal possession of extreme pornographic images is now enforced in England, Wales and Northern Ireland since January 2009, and can lead to being jailed for up to 3 years, and signing the Sex Offender Register. Similar laws are currently being drawn up in Scotland. It is a victimless crime intended to discourage us from possessing images government finds tasteless, including millions of highly-regulated images on the internet, featuring consenting adults performers acting out fantasies. Hundreds of thousands of people were criminalised overnight for possessing images that the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act classes as pornographic, realistic and “extreme”, using subjective criteria.
These images, most of which feature legal activities, remain easily available to British residents, most of whom won't realise they're illegal to possess. At the moment we are in contact with someone who is facing a possible prison sentence for possessing a film clip on an email sent by a friend as a joke.
The chilling effect of this law has also restricted availability of information on risk aware consensual kinks. This puts more people at risk of death due to careless, or uninformed sex games. The further demonisation of such edge players pushes people away from community activity, and information, towards solo games, which can be riskiest of all.

If you want to fight, refuse to accept a caution - get a solicitor and then contact CAAN and Backlash UK and we will help you.
Nobody is going to hand all consenting adults our rights on a velvet cushion, we have to fight the spread of prejudice and lies about consenting adults. We can not afford to cower in our closets while we are increasingly criminalised, excluded and demonised. If a teacher, or care assistant, can be sacked, or barred, because they have a kink, due to state-sanctioned vetting schemes which discriminate – who is next?
Consenting adults are under attack, for defying the Nanny State's approved sexual tastes, but at CAAN we are fighting for equality. We think the government is abusing our right to personal privacy and our right to freedom of expression. If you have been discriminated against because of your sexuality we want to hear from you, as we are collecting evidence of human rights abuse to submit to the Equality and Human Rights Commission. Some of this evidence is about to be released in a book we're publishing by John Ozimek, now known as Jane Fae.

Well put De. It's also a good reason to vote for the Liberal Democrats at the election this week. They are a progressive party and are generally sexually tolerant. Vote Liberal Democrat.
