A while ago I asked folks on IC what they thought to the idea of having a Munch where folks could meet up and have a jamming session. Well here is my proposal for the Perves in the Park (Unplugged) Munch - a social gathering for folks to bring instruments, have a singsong and a few drinks in the pleasure of a great park. When Whilst there is no time like the present, a wee bit of notice will help. Saturday 29th May 10 - the next bank holiday! OR - if the weather fails us Sunday 30th May as a back up date. Where? As this will be the first time I've tried organising this I'm suggesting somewhere fairly central in London so more people can make it: I propose Hyde Park, London. More specifically: the bank of grass directly opposite the Serpentine Gallery, where Exhibition Road/The Ring forms the left hand side of a crude triangle, with The Serpentine bank creating the right side of the triangle, and S Carriage Drive creating the base of the crude triangle Here is a map to Hyde Park, you will need to zoom in a little to find the area. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?client=safari&rls=... Nearest tube stations: Marble Arch or Hyde Park Corner. I can't vouch for what the others will be wearing but I shall be head to toe in black, with 2 guitars and a black hat. Start Time:
Mid afternoon - say about 3pm, so we'll not burn under the midday sun, and we will have had chance to recover from the London Munch the night before What will it involve? I propose we congregate on the park - I'll define a more specific area once I've had some responses
So, anyone up for it? Edited Specific location, tube details and map added. Further edit Please understand that this event really does depend on the weather : if there is a likely downpour on Saturday yet Sunday is better, then I shall update this post by 10am on Saturday at the latest to indicate if the event is posponed by one day. If Sunday is bad too, then this event will need to be cancelled, since there is currently not an indoor venue I can provide to cater for 30+ people and their instruments in this same area that shall be free. Yet another edit : Some of you have quite sensibly asked for confirmation that we may actually have a picnic, drink alcohol etc whilst in Hyde Park. I have checked the Royal Park guidelines on this and below is the link to their FAQs about picnics in the Royal Parks http://www.royalparks.org.uk/about/can_I_hold_a_... In a nutshell:

Cheers guys. To clarify a point that was somewhat abrasively raised elsewhere this will become more detailed if there are sufficient numbers interested. For now we know the date, the location and that the gist of it is to be a big picnic in the park with a jamming session.

I only play the didgeredoo and bodhran very badly (and not at the same time) so maybe I'll just picnic in the glorious sunshine we're going to have this summer, could only make Saturday tho. I'll bring poi as well. The nice lady with the whip. | |

That's what I like to hear. Yes, please bring along poi, and ANY instrument you feel like if it's something you're happy to play. Even if you don't want to play but fancy socialising, do come.
