Apart from Canal Street, where's good to hang out in the glorious sunshine, perhaps with a beer or two?

Are we talking manchester city centre or a drive out. If we are having a drive out then i suggest you head for the hills and go on a lovely drive up in saddleworth. Manchester it's self can't really think of anywhere unless you do the cafe bars of the northern quater but that's where most of manchester's finest drunks hang out. Another one bites the dust.

Canal Street tonight, at the mid week munch: http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/270299/ (plug, plug) Here's good (for the views): http://www.theromper.co.uk/ we enjoyed eating here too, but recent reviews seem to be quite mixed. By the canal at the King's Ransom in Sale is pretty nice too. My goal - to save women from nature (Dior)

As for other places to go when the sun's shining. Personal favourite is Hardcastle Crags at Hebden Bridge, especially in May when it's full of bluebells. Then a drink in the eccentric Blue Pig Pub. Also, Malham Cove which is gloriously pretty and most definitely worth a kinky visit by full moon (which would be a bit like sunlight except more exciting).

Castlefield is a great place to spend an afternoon in the sunshine. I miss Manchester for areas like that! 'Would it be a bad thing if I just strangled you with these right now?'

Sat outside Sinclairs Oyster Bar in exchange square next to the big wheel and selfridges is one of my favourite places to while away an hour or two, watching the hustle and bustle of workers and shoppers scurrying by. The beer is as cheap as chips and like rocket fuel. Don't get up from your seat too fast after a glass or three of the stuff, your knees might be a little wobbly.
Oh and my back garden is a lovely place to watch the sun track across the sky too. South facing back gardens are a god send Apparently though we are set for an icy blast again for the bank holiday weekend so make sure you have your thermals on.

The Marble Arch down the road from me on Rochdale Road, just out the city centre is good, and has a beer garden. Britons Protection has a decent beer garden too. Not great pubs, but the bars on Deansgate Locks have outside seating. Kro on Oxford Road. Damn I need a drink now.
