Reading today's very useful thread on legality made me ask do you find a bdsm activity more attractive because it is illegal?

The source of all unhappiness is other people

No, doesn't make a difference one way or the other.

No, I enjoy what I enjoy, if the law interferes that is an annoyance. Its like riding fast, the exhilaration is from the ride and speed cameras are a nuisance.

Absolutely not. Can do without the stress! I like it because it is HOT.

Ilve never thought about it so I guess that means no.

I like what I like because I like it!

Surely in order to know if being illegal makes something "more" attractive you would have to first enjoy an activity that is not illegal and then made illegal at a later date to compare?

People certainly get a rush out of sex outdoors or in places they risk getting caught. It really depends on who they think might catch them though...the idea of being caught might not have anything to do with being arrested for breaking the law.

I think you're confusing "illegal" with "taboo". Many people like things that are taboo, like swearing, drinking too much, changing gender roles, playing with stereotypes, basically doing things you aren't supposed to. But not all taboos are illegal. Fashion is a good example. It's taboo for men to wear dresses. It's taboo to wear sexy lingerie (or be seen in). Even though these are habits that happen all the time, they are still taboo. But it isn't illegal. (Well, in Scotland "Breach of Peace" covers an awful lot, but even so! Not really illegal!)

For something to be taboo, people might just generally disapprove.

For something to be illegal, you might go to prison.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Goodness - how fast do you pedal?
