Hoods: spandex vs. leather (10)

I'm shopping around for a hood and have come across two main contenders* - spandex and leather. Normally I'd go straight for leather, but wondered if anyone has experience (on either side) of the spandex sort, and if so, how effective it is.

*latex is an obvious third option, but spandex/leather suits my needs more.

To deny it implies that it's wrong.

I always used leather hoods in the past and I have several, from light to quite heavy leather hoods. Leather had to be used for the smell, which was such a turn on. There is noway would i have considered a rubber one on my own. However having now had a latex hood used on me several times, i have to say it is by far greater then the leathers.... in fact my leather hoods seem to have gone into retirement...

Spandex is great for those who like the idea of a hood but don't want anything too constrictive. It is also good for those who have a fetish for soft and shiny materials. I have a couple of guys who love the spandex hoods because I stroke their faces through the hood and run my nails down the cheeks.

Spandex hoods are also good to put on before your expensive leather hoods to save the leather from possible hair grease and sweat. You can chuck spandex in the wash.

Might be useful to expand on the needs bit.

For instance, I like black canvas hoods with a drawstring, like the black bags used by the police in "V for Vendetta" and for similar reasons.

I've been in a leather hood which was awesome. Although the smell of "cow" irked me for a while (childhood thing) visibility is zero, sounds are muffled due to the thickness of the hood (albeit quite minor). Furthermore, depending on how the mouth is secured, one can hear their own breathing which may/may not work.

I'm hugely biased towards lycra (spandex) anyway, only because of the sensual feeling you feel through it and the fun you can have with lycra-on-lycra etc.

Visibility through a simple lycra hood is around 65% during the day (without direct sunlight in ones eyes) so you'd either need to get one with padding around the eyes, "bind" the eyes before putting the hood on..or get creative.

Breathing is easy, as is drooling (through a hood without a mouth hole etc.), talking (if you want), and you can still feel being smacked/whipped/flogged across the face.

Erm. I'm going to stop now, my stripey zentai's looking at me all sexy-like!

Not too much of my fetish revolves or involves latex, and I prefer the look of the leather/spandex over latex. I might be wrong, but it seems that leather and spandex are also a tad quicker to put on/take off.

And yes Tanos, I completely agree with you on the canvas hoods. If only there was a Shadow Gallery under my house... anyway, I'm on the hunt for those too, for a particular idea I have in mind.

I've never really thought about spandex, probably because I don't have a fetish for it. I think it all comes down to what suits you best.
