Been reading up on this and noticed a few pros with an interest in it.

Question i have though is say your client gets an infection or the play ends up going wrong wouldnt that leave you in a position of being sued?

Dental play and not being qualified per say must be a grey area?

Any explinations are appreciated agin its just oout of curiosity :)

Are you posting from the US? I imagine a client trying to sue someone for poor dental work would be expected to prove that he was falsely led to believe the Lady was a qualfied practitioner. Otherwise he would be found at least partially culpable.

You really think a client is going to sue?

Anybody visiting a dentist in the UK would expect that person to be suitably qualified and registered with the General Dental Council, it is illegal to work as a dentist and not be registered.

Thus one would expect a certain standard in their work, as most only do private these days anyway then they are liable to be sued if they fuck up... and that is true in the UK even 19 years ago when I worked in the profession.

Dental play, as in what? Pulling teeth? Or sticking needles in the gums?

The first - I don't think anyone would do that.

The second, reasonable safe if you are very careful I would imagine.

I should imagine it all comes down to being very bloody careful.

ETA: Wait, medical mummification? How does that work *looks confused* - goes to make more coffee....

I would agree with Lady Anna....who is going to sue ?

I used to dabble in dental play years ago and quite frankly some peoples dental hygiene made feel very sorry for their dentist....assuming they ever went !

Although I did have fun with my dental needles....perhaps that is just my sadistic streak coming through :-D

Ah.. I asssumed "dental work" meant just that and not "play".... fair enough...

Medical Mummification :) Dental play is one thing, sticking in needles, plying with instruments etc.. but this is an actual procedure.

Im suprised as youve blogged on one of your sites about purchasing new medical mummification kit?

Maybe theres a different medical mummification from the one im referring to if so then please feel free to educate me :)

Ok again down to my writting so appologise for that.

What im asking is if say your carying out some intense dental play and it goes wrong, or the end result is the client has to seek medical or professional treatment you obviously run the risk of liability.

Irrespective of any disclaimer etc.. they dont stand up in court, Fitness industry is a prime example of the failure of disclaimers.

Im sure as your all responsable adults you do have Personal Liability Insurance just incase?

Or is the possibility of being sued absured.

Again just curious.

The thread is more about medical mummification as thats realy what im interested in hearing about as its something i have never heared of before :)
