That was interesting! Economic Left/Right: -4.62 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.33 Not entirely surprising considering I come from an essentially socialist democratic country... Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. (R. Frost)

Can we all be libertarian Left? I was a bit surprised by mine... Thought I would come out on the right.... "The art of being a Gentleman is knowing when not to be" Quote:TheSilverFox - Circa 1986

Economic Left/Right: -1.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.90 Kind of deceptive, it implies that I am sort of well balanced, middle of the road, etc. In fact I have wildly extreme views in every direction. International man of mystery

I have alternative theory. The site appears to have originated in the USA. I suspect that the ratings are calibrated to even up for a representative cross-section of Americans. Compared to Americans almost anywhere else in the world, including apparently the UK, would seem to appear to be left/liberal on average. That's where I came out, but I would rate myself pretty near the centre, if not slightly right of centre on a UK spectrum. Now that is food for thought. Perhaps the impression of America being dominated by redneck nutcases isn't so far off the mark. Borne out too by the recent absurd rantings about Obamacare. |
