How to make perfect soft boiled coloured bondage eggs on Easter Monday.
Find white eggs if possible. Wrap a couple of those old elastic bands that you have been collecting around each egg.
Yellow: use boiled onion skins or tumeric. Red: Beets, paprika, rose hips. Orange: Mix the above Green: Spinach, Kale, carrot tops. Khaki Green: Red onion skins. Blue: Red cabbage or blueberries.
Place chosen vegetation in water, bring to boil, add eggs and boil eggs to taste. Extract eggs from soggy boiled vegetation, remove rubber bands which will leave a nice striped pattern on the dyed egg.
Fresh toast and unsalted butter.

I never knew there were so many variations - my mum just got us to make the brown onion skin ones when we were little.
Pace Eggs, she called them. If only I had some onions in... I could boil some up with chocolate and see what happens, I suppose. |
