I'd like to see more sites like this - generally tasteful images of fit male subs with lots of thoughtful commentary http://malesubmissionart.com/page/2

I could lose the thoughtful commentary, to be honest. :P Froufrou - kinky hand-made tutus.

Well fair enough, though I think some of the comments like "The relatively good rope bondage, something that's aggravatingly horrendous in most pictures of bound men, helps (the photo) stand out." might ring true for some people. I sometimes feel that in general photographers don't put anywhere near as much effort into photographing submissive men as they do submissive women. But that's just my own personal take on it.

I completely agree, and the problem I've found it twofold. Firstly there are very few women photographers, especially ones who like photographing men. And secondly, finding men who want to be photographed (with face shots) in submissive poses...is even harder. Believe me, I know, I've tried. Male submission art is as good as it gets so far.
If you're not living on the edge....I can help.

Well I think t the fact that the fact that one has to scroll through umpteen pages of females in topped ranked IC photos to find a single male subject must provide ample evidence that photographers generally don't give a damn when it comes to photographing male subs. that's been a problem for a while, me and a friend want to do some M/m photos with a (female) photogrpher friend of ours and see how it compares to the female sub photos on here...

Good on ya! That's just the sort of thing I'm talking about!

Its a question of numbers, and also of privacy. In general you will find fewer M-m scenes in clubs, and of those not all wish to be photographed. Its certainly not true about 'not giving a damn'. One can only photograph those that wish to be photographed, and show those that give permission to be shown. In terms of top photos, you are pairing the views of the vast majority of IC, who are not photographers, and who in the main rate the pictures, anonymously, with the relatively few photographers that take the pics, which is both wrong and unfair. IC simply reflects the make-up of its membership, and you can't and shouldn't try to force quotas on it.

yeah but if male subs experienced the same kind of appreciation that female subs do, (like on sites like this) maybe they'd be more willing to show their faces?

tbh showing faces on IC is more to do with your public life than the need for appreciation. If you are likely to suffer in your public life by being seen as having anything like an unusual sexual life, then of course you aren't going to allow it, or even take any kind of risk (and that goes for both sexes and all combinations of relationships) simply to look for some acknowledgement.
I also think there is a fundamental difference in the way men and women perceive their physical bodies, with the majority of women being more concerned to know if their shape is nice than men - (all general sweeping assumptions acknowledged From what I've seen there is absolutely no difference in the way subs and dom/mes and all other tyes of relationships show their appreciation of one another. A couple of other threads have had a crack at this issue quite recently: 14th March 2010, Other BDSM @Glimmer started a thread Pictures...... which came at it from the negative point of view - hetero guys having to rate hairy ball-sac shots. 17th February 2010, Website Help @CarolDeeTGirl started a thread Sexism on IC which asked why 98% of all pictures on IC are female. One problem for even good male photos is that the rating audience isn't, by majority, enamoured with the subject. It needs the target audience to rate the photo rather than the general audience. The other issue for male erotica is what men find erotic about men is often unpublishable under IC's rules. So the quantity of photos being uploaded is low. Those small number of photos then get presented to people not interested in male erotica. Et voila ... 98% of photos on IC are of females.
