Bump, to remind everyone it's still on for 12:00. I'd be more than happy to try for the entire long route. A little bad taste is like a nice dash of paprika (D. Parker)

I think we should try for the longer one having just seen Priors e-mail about his Snowdon climb!

9.5 miles (or 15 km if you're a metric person).

Pop a thick bin liner in your pocket before leaving home and approach Ham Bank, which is the steepest part of the walk, from the summit. Remove bin liner and climb in it and slide down, it's great fun!

OK, so just to confirm we are meeting at 12 noon on Sunday in parking lot at Boxhill & Westhumble station. I've done a bit of research, and have worked out that, as the route is 9.6miles, and on average in the past we've walked at 2m per hour, it's a minimum commitment of 4,5 hours BUT we should factor in that there's an approximate total incline of about 500ft, so that's another half an hour. So would I be correct in budgeting a minimum of 5 hours for the walk? That would exclude a lunch break at a pub (add another hour), so we wouldn't be finished until 6pm Does that sound right, jstripes? ETA: I'm reading the walk description and it sounds wonderful! Lot's of steep uphills and downs; lots of great look-out points, some Kinky Konnotations (Cockshot Cottages, Box Hill, Westhumble ) and more than one pub to stop in along the way. Roll on Sunday!

I climbed up Box Hill last Friday (the steep way); I've not done the 'easier' way. Beforehand, I counted roughly 18 spaces for cars at Boxhill & Westhumble station. But obviously you can get there by train.

Looking forward to it. I will be there and ready for anything - well almost anything - and to emphasize my obsession with punctuality, will be on the train which arrives Boxhill at 11.59.
