Hey all! Am looking for recommendations for really bright vibrant eyeshadow. I have some nice colours but it all seems disappointingly pale when applied despite being vibrant and bright in the compact - recommendations needed please!

I tend to buy eye shadow in the crayon format. I find it stays really bright and you can apply it exactly where you want it.

You want colour? Try MAC pigments - you can get them cheaper on ebay, but OMG they are bright and a little goes an awful long way. Kali x I also second Urban Decay, and it's worth checking out No17 and Rimmel too, they have some suprisingly BIG colours. It's pronounced 'Car-Lee' *G*

Barry M Dazzle Dust is very good, as is Bourjois Liquid Eyeshadow Shimmering Shine

damn I was hoping for cheaper ideas!! But since I mostly use purples and greens I guess I may have to splash out. I have some great coloured eye liner pencils that are a glorious colour...might try using them more and sealing with the colours I have < ponders > thanks :D That which yields, is not always weak. — Jacqueline Carey (Kushiel's Dart)

If you want REALLY vivid colours, then stage make up is always good. Personally I like Kryolan paints, easy to apply and you can mix the paints to make your own colours. Also, if you're using powder eyeshadows (personally I hate cream shadows, each to their own) try applying them wet. Instead of using a dry sponge, get a brush and a little pot of water, wet the brush (not the eyeshadow), load up your wet brush and paint it on. You'll be surprised at how much stronger the colour will be when it dries. You'll have to learn not to keep your eyelid closed until it's dry!
Doesn't work with all eyeshadows, but usually does with Bourjois and Barry M. Worth a try with a few of the eyeshadows that you already have that you had hoped were vivid. May save you an expense in buying new stuff

Barry M is my favourite for bright colours and it's not toooo expensive, but if you want cheap cheap to experiment with then superdrug do what I think is their own brand of little 10 colour pallets - and they do a super duper bright one with all the colours of the rainbow for about £3 which is suprisingly bright on if applied liberally. b. xx

And you were totally right - not only do the colours show up better but they last much longer too - thanks :D That which yields, is not always weak. — Jacqueline Carey (Kushiel's Dart)

Daaahling!! You can easily slum it at Rimmel and Boots, and those other cheaper brands do very bright glittery powder shadows. Tescos, etc have their own brands (can't rememebr the name), but I have a palette of blues and turquoise which is really bright and deep colour which stays on for ages. Mistress H xx
