Each time I come here it redefines what IC is for me. Occasionally such as today I receive lovely memos which can brighten my day. I can have intellectual debate on the boards and I have even found wine recommendations. What more could I ask for? Best M Space travels in my blood. And there ain't nothing I can do about it. | |||

Great original post and I agree with your sentiments entirely.
I like the non-BDSM chat stuff. It's good for those of us who are just here to arse around (maybe they got rid of it to stop folks like us from visiting of course! I've also never figured out why people not interested in a topic (because it's been discussed before for example) take the time to read it and post how disinterested they are. It's similar to all the people who sit behind me at the football match and complain about how awful it is and ask themselves why they bother to come about every five minutes. I noticed that Cosmic's perfectly innocent little Daddy ditty and all the complimentary comments on it ended up deleted all because he posted it in Ultraviolence but Ultraviolence decided his ditty didn't belong there but ought to be elsewhere, maybe a Weblog, maybe somewhere else, but it fell short of requisite level of violence for the Ultras - so off with it's not bloody enough head and so it met its death. Verte and Haute Couture's good natured spat on feminism also got derailed and closed down because Admin said it should not be on the boards but on weblog. Too many venues perhaps? Too many standing orders? Too much filibustering? Too much effort to work out where to put what.. And yes, I do understand that this is Admin's site and it can be as he wishes it to be, however awful it has become. Therefore I will not find it necessary for Bohnanza to warn me that if I don't like it I can fuck off, as he did to Areyouokay - who then deleted. There is nothing amiss with discussing how dull it is. In fact discussing how dull it is is marginally one of the less dull activities on IC as it usually generates a few references to Deano and other entertaining ghosts. It's for whatever anyone wants it to be for. That will vary from person to person. It's easy to avoid threads which are boring. I don't think I've once looked at an Event thread because I don't go to them. Idle chatter on interesting D/s topics can be useful and slot into the day. I think about sex a lot. Finding someone dominant. I don't think there needs to be a fixed purpose as to why anyone uses a site. | |||

You aren't allowed to have a non-DS existence on IC. Not in any meaningful sense. It was all closed down a couple of years ago. It's the main reason I stopped logging in more than once every six months. I suppose that Admin reorganised and got the site he wanted. I always thought there was more to life, so I went elsewhere. <shrugs>
Not as far as Sunderland, though, obviously.
