Ive just started making my own crackers, ive just bought some new string just to find out its to thick. Is there any specific sort or any other material i would be better off using? i can't think of anything to say here

I use embroidery silk or the deerskin thongs that I think I showed you.

Dacron, nylon, dyneema, deerskin.... Lots of things you can use. I find it best to use bowstring material and twist up as many strands as necessary for the desired weight of cracker - fairly narrow for signal whips and quite chunky for a big bullwhip, particularly if one needs the cutting power or wants to keep the noise down. I use nylon brick line, easily available from all builders merchants / DIY stores. Makes a 'harsh' durable cracker, and at a couple of quid for 25 metres easy to change after every use without breaking the bank. Certainly the best for 'Whips and balloons' at the munch

I agree with the above post... Nylon Brick Line / Mason's Line - Flourescent Yellow or Pink from eBay at £7 for 250ft... Tim After the SWISH, comes the THWACK and the pain...

Fishing tackle shops stock a good variety of very strong braided line all of which is good for cracker making.
No good for bursting balloons though http://www.braiddirect.co.uk/Whiplash-Fishing-Br... http://www.londonalternativemarket.com/
