Way back in February Master and i went shopping and he picked up a packet of Bisquick, well he thought it would be good for some pancakes on shrove tuesday.

The pancakes were indeed delicious and i used the american style pancake recipe as we both love that sort.

We liked it so much that we tried to get some more Bisquick to make some more. Only one problem, neither of us could remember which store we were in when we bought them.

So no joys until today. Today we went to Morrisons to pick up a couple of things and there on the shelf were six packets of the stuff.

There are now six packets of the product sitting on a shelf in my food cupboard at home.

i dont normally panic buy, but on this occasion who knows when i might see the stuff again.

All i can say now is pass the maple syrup :-)

be well and be happy

cally :-)

OK, I have googled it, read about it but I am still not sure what you do with it. Or why there was a need to invent it in the first place.

Can you help?

Well as i said in my blog we managed to find it in Morrisons. You can use it for making pancake batter, either english style or american style. It can also apparently be used to make scones. i would suspect that its the sort of scones you use in a cobbler rather than fruity ones :-)

It has a shortening in the mix already and bits and bobs like baking powder etc. To be honest it just makes it a whole lot easier to make pancakes etc. As to why it was invented, i suppose the same could be said of pastry mixes that you can buy. Or cake mixes, its just more convenient this way. Hope that helps a little.

Oh i agree completely that no good can come of it, as the bisquick makes the pancakes so bloody tasty it just means that i will want to eat more of them and that will be a bad thing :-(

pancakes made with eggs, flour and milk,

or pancakes made with enriched flour bleached (wheat flour, niacin, iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin. folic cid), partially hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed oil, leavening (baking soda, sodum alumininium phosphate, monocalcium phosphate), dextrose, salt (shitloads)

Think I know which one I'd go for.

Thanks to this thread I now know what a Snickerdoodle is and that some people mistakenly call Snickerdoodle's 'sugar cookies'. Idiots.
