One of my childhood heroes. Both Mission: Impossible and Airplane are classics and will be the main things he's remembered for. But he's been in loads of stuff over the years and it's always been a delight to see him pop up in something.
The reason why the first Tom Cruise Mission: Impossible film was so crap was because Jim Phelps would never turn traitor and Peter made that a part of the character.

Very sad when another fine actor leaves us. He certainly had that real 60's suave hero look about him, and although I hadn't seen many of his films, Airplane does stand out for me as one where he was brilliant. Makes me giggle thinking about it now. At least he didn't suffer from the sounds of it and his family were with him. I dont have a quote so I'll leave this bit blank...........cos I dont want to use up space till I have something really good to put here

I won't be able to watch a film about gladiators again. Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: Why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: Why not marry safe science if you love it so much.

I guess it is our age that we remember all these marvellous actors and actresses that are all sadly leaving us of late. Thank you for this post as I certainly hadn't seen it on the news.

It made it onto the Channel 5 news last night, but they failed to mention him being in Mission Impossible the series, just that he'd appeared in the first film. But they did mention Airplane, but that was it really. Very poor coverage, but then I don't expect much from 5 News. I always behave. I just don't specify how. |
