I know it used to be said of The Gate that it was like a large private party rather than a commercial club with a group of friends meeting , chatting and playing together.
Following Saturday's o & I I suddenly realised there is a similar atmosphere at The Factory
The events I've been to at The Factory , be it club o & I or Ann & Roly's Parties (or in fact the Romford Factory Munch)though in some ways different in nature all have this overall friendly atmosphere.
Wandering round the 3,500 sq ft of play space at the clubs , or chatting in the kitchen with Barry2kettles(and an urn not a samovar) there is something of the "party with friends" atmosphere.
Every month there is something new by way of furniture (the 3 suspension beams and the Ginger Bread Man being the latest - all original and unique)
The latest additional sofas provide even more of the "large private party" atmosphere (I must get round to taking more photos of the new layout)
Long may it flourish under the benign gaze and originality of the grey haired Rolf Harris usually sitting quietly in the corner ![]()

A fine example of how to run a fetish club successfully. The Factory is a generic space but the approach by the owners is to suit the clientele for that specific evening. The venue caters for all aspects of the adult market, not just BDSM, and has different themes on different nights. By listening to people from the different interest areas and having a good and consistent PR approach (discounts for introducing new people, membership bonuses, appropriate pricing policies), The Factory has gradually built up its reputation as a great place to go.
Joy of joys, it is the closest (regular) club to where I live being just a 30 minute drive on easy roads. It perfectly suits my requirements for a BDSM venue being clean with plenty of comfortable seating, there is well made kit, steady lighting at a decent lux, cleaning kit everywhere, ambient level music, reasonably priced soft drinks, food, free parking outside the door, different sized play spaces, privacy if wanted, an obliging host (who can now crack a whip Good people too! Since this venue opened last year, I am now so pleased to be living to the east of London.

The thing that speaks volumes is the number of people who visit one of the events there for the first time and then come back again, in many cases becoming regulars. Also we're seeing people travelling considerable distances to get there. | ||
