Whenever I go to Romford - as I did last night to o & I - for part of the journey I am faced with the alternative of 2 narrow , twisting, unlit lanes for a few miles (unless I choose to go by a longer well lit dual carriage way route)
My sat-nav's preference is for one- which is also for most of its length single track - I ignore it and head for the other which, though twisting and unlit at least has room for 2 cars to pass each other
On the way back from o & I at 4 this morning as I turned a bend I was aware of blue flashing lights ahead , headlights facing me and as I stopped an ambulance inched its way past me then also stopped
Looks like a head on crash which also involved crashing into walls as there was masonry all over the road. I asked the police what the chances of getting through were and was told none the road was littered with glass and masonry. Still wedged against the ambulance alongside me he asked me if I wanted him to turn my car round for me (my car is much longer than the lane width) which he did
Travelled back with my sat-nav continually whining "Perform a U-Turn when possible" till it remembered the other lane
SO the safer lane turned out last night to be the more dangerous ![]()

I know where you mean. I've been choosing the 'safer' lane for a while but perhaps the other might have been better. I went along the lane shortly before you must have. A scary thought. Mostly nice... with a twist! (Better Vic?

Probably better you took me the "long way" back to you so that I arrived AFTER the crash ^Thunder^

Think I know which road you are referring to, if I'm right there are regularly accidents along there. Glad you timed it so you were not involved though.

Thanks - the narrow one BTW is Pudding Lane, the wider one where the accident was is Gravel Lane ^Thunder^ |
