I'm a parent of a child born with cerebral palsy and I find the use of the word spastic offensive. However, it tells me that the user is inarticulate, lazy and ignorant. So I gain knowledge at their expense. It ranks with txt spk as an irritant, it's not a hanging offence. Freedom of speech is too important for ill-chosen words to cause us such vexation. live and let live Al |
