Ain't checked out the Masai in Kenya then.

Like, how it regularly occurs in nature, so does it with them: it is the male that has the "plumage" and the woman who doesn't...

Mmmmmm, confounded generalisation...

Shaving my head is a hard limit of mine! i don't have the most bountiful of locks as it is; really very fine...but i do love my hair (and have it pulled)!

Eesh, perish the thought. I do love my hair and well, I'm not of the slave mindset, so persn'ly that's crossing the line.

Just by the by... I don't think the state of one's hair should be any indication of someone's femininity. Surely that is simply fuelling the misconception that 'femininity', as such, is predicated on image and one's outward appearance?

If you look back through fashions, the fashions for men's head hair has varied from shaven, through crew-cuts, wearing wigs, to long hair and then back again.

Pretty consistently, across all cultures, in the history I know of, it has been fashionable for women to have long hair.

Sometimes as short as a bob, but it's never been general that women wear their hair quite as short as most men wear it.

Possibly as long hair on a woman is an unequivocal outward sign that a woman is healthy, therefore a good potential mother for a man's children.

Whereas the length of a man's hair only says what he prefers, and many healthy men have male-pattern baldness.

But that's still a social argument, not a biological one. (And the health issue doesn't stop someone being a women, either.) That women should have long hair, because women usually have long hair, is rather circular.
