Anyone who gives you a diagnosis online doesn't know what they are talking about. Anyone who does know what they are talking about won't give you a diagnosis online. If only, in this country, we had a system of medically trained people with whom you could arrange an appointment, where they will spend time and look at things and give you a diagnosis and treatment for free. Maybe we could try and get some of the political parties to promise this sort of thing in their next manifesto for the upcoming election. All we need now is a name people can easily recognise, something like GP. What's the time OllieVW? And my name isn't John. | ||||

a GP! why didn't i think about that! i mean it's not like it's was 2 o clock in the fucking morning when i realised i was itching a bit and looked at my arms... do you honestly think that if i'd had this during the day today i'd have thought 'nah, it's probably nothing, but in case it is something, i'll wait till not only the doctors are closed, but 90% of peopel online in this country will be out or asleep, and THEN i'll post in only on some random blog on a bdsm site? think again, i've been posting this on multiple sites, asking friends with medical knowledge, researching online... there's not much i can do at 2 in the morning. if its still bad when i wake up tomorrow i'm going to schedule a emergency appiontment with my gp, but until then, please save your much unneeded sarcasm for idiots that dont think their thoughts through. it's funny, cos one of the first things i thought when i realised it was there was 'i wonder if my mum knows', but then i thoguth probably not, what with her being dead and all. just done, so i'm expecting to hear back from them by 7am, but probably sooner. the guy on the other end didn't seem too concerned, though i have no idea how much medical training he has. Most of the persons taking the calls, especially "out of hours", at NHS Direct have no medical training. They take the calls, can give pre scripted replies to certain questions or will pass on the enquiry to a medically trained person and then you will be called back. But not necessarily with any speed. The people that answer are usually admin type people, with small ammounts of experience, mainly from what they have learnt from phonecalls. you then get transferred to a qualified nurse, or in the cases that I have had, a retired nurse with a wealth of knowledge underneath them, and google/ medical books to hand if they don't know. at this point if they think it is an emergency, your response time from them will improve dramatically! if it needs to be taken to the next level, there are also doctors around who will take over the call, give you an over the phone diagnosis, and then direct you to a GP or accident and emergency, or call an ambulance for you.
hope you found out what it was 'Would it be a bad thing if I just strangled you with these right now?' Edited 6 Mar 10, 1:51 PM by res4sub |
