For someone who uses words like "ibid" [never mind the cruel] you are playing a little fast and loose with logic here. Reminds me of that comedy routine where a question is asked and a different one answered. I just reread this and the initial thread quickly and confirmed my recollection; no one has actually suggestd victimisation or sympathy. The nearest anyone came to that was De's "in solidarity" remark. I'm sure you are not suggesting Caan should insist on an IQ test before offering to help. The main thrust of these threads - aside from the jokes - has been about police judgement and priorities. In Yorkshire they didn't seize the perfectly legal kit. Now I'm not sufficiently up in anarchist theory to assess the alternatives, so I'm inclined to agree the police have a role to play, but they could have done it differently - charged them with causing a traffic obstruction, set Planning, or Health & Safety on them, whatever - even just a quiet word - wasn't that how Kinky Cottage got sorted ? No. Instead they go full court on publicity. And yes, I'll defend your right to say you are mighty miffed at dim dommes bringing your profession into disrepute. But don't hand the police a get out of jail card. One thing though I will acknowledge. At least D&C got the right premises. Back in Yorkshire, this week it came out that the police there mistakenly battered down a door believing it to be the address of someone who had left two years earlier. They sent the current occupant a box of chocs. She was not amused.

My sympathies goes to those persecuted in this case. The best way forward might be to ensure that the Crown Prosecutions Service is aware of the lack of good legal precedent and the potential difficulties on proving whether it was actually within the definition of a brothel. In my experience, if there is ANY doubt at all about whether a conviction can be obtained, the CPS will back off and avoid wasting taxpayers money.

Isn't The Daily Mail the biggest wank, sorry wanker, mag out there..? I'm sure the article included the price of the house concerned. ...and another pet hate of mine....
...need a policeman to tackle a violent offender, sorry they're all out on the "soft" jobs like traffic or busting normal people. Well, they need to be in good shape to pick up their gold plated pensions at 55. Rant over.

The sex 'dungeon' was found in a converted first floor room filled with hundreds of items including whips, gas masks, wooden bats, handcuffs, clothes pegs and shackles. So accprding to this, clothes pegs are illegal now? and what if al queada decide to drop chemicles on us your honor, if we have no gasmasks, how would we survive? I can understand the raid, locals scared of diffrent people turning up at really wired times, it could be naything and in a village like that it gives the police something exciting to do other than sit on the side of roads and eat sandwiches. I didn't like the comment at the end though 'we want these people out and a nice familly to move in' if these people were not closed minded bigots they might find their neighbors were nice. wouldn't it have been better to talk to their neighbors and find out what was going 1st? I would.

have been for years as far as I know; there was a raid against Gay men in the 90s, ant the Old Bill seized clothes pegs from the bedroom, though not from the kitchen. I'm tired of being defined by organising events.

I doubt they care; they seem to think that, whatever the law may say, they are the divinely appointed guardians of public morality.

It would serve them right if the next tenants were originally from Pakistan.

To answer a few points mentioned above, maybe they HAVE run out of cannabis factories to raid. Being Devon and Cornwall, they could always raid pasty farms.. As for clothes pegs and gas masks being illegal, how can I hang my clothes out to dry without clothes pegs? and protection from the harmful traffic fumes. I really must have a gas mask! I keep both im my bedroom just in case. At least while they were raiding this establishment they weren't out with their damned speed cameras! Always look on the bright side of life, dedum, dedum dedum dedumdee. Supplier of classic motor omnibuses for weddings and all sorts of events in the south of England.

I particularly enjoyed the line... 'I've seen traffic jams caused by people trying to go there. It's disgusting. We just want them out and have a nice family move in.' I hope upon hope that the "nice family," that move in are nothing more than a bunch of reprobates that cause nothing but trouble for the local residents, slowly dragging down the value of the other homes and generally terrorize the local community! Which will make bad sound proofing and bad parking seem like a picnic, Enough of the mentality of not in our back-garden!
