Yeah just came on to post same link under the title 'yet another raid'. If anyone knows who this is please attempt to put them in contact with me or CAAN direct if support would be welcome from CAAN, or anyone else we might be able to find for them - including getting them a retaliatory news piece placed at least somewhere like El Reg or possibly somewhere bigger if we can get it. In solidarity and for people keeping the heck out of our private business.

wtf? Why are the police bothering to follow this up? I can't see what's illegal here. Gotta love the NIMBY crew, but then - what can you expect from the Daily Hate Mail?

Looks as though two women may have been working out of the house - that would technically make it a brothel. Hence the interest from the police. Here is the Telegraphs take on it http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howab... Edited to add Telegraph link "Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph." And http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/265515/ Wonder if there is a bus stop nearby that has buses to Goth Central? I always behave. I just don't specify how.

Hmmm...top quote from a shortly to be released book on this topic : a brothel is defined quite simply as a place where two or more women – or in these enlightened times, men – offer to participate in physical acts of indecency for the sexual gratification of men (or women). In fact, neither sexual intercourse, nor the payment for sex is necessary for a court to determine that a place is a brothel, but, merely, conduct that achieves a sufficient level of “lewdness” ...and that comes from the most recent CPS guidelines. In fact, many many of the private parties described by posters on here would most likely fit the description of a brothel and the fact that few get raided probably has more to do with the fact that they are one-offs and the police don't get invited as anything else. I, too, am looking to write this story up a little further. The police side is obviously "out there" in the pop press. If anyone wishes to contact me to give the other side, i'd be very happy. jane (jane@ozimek.co.uk)

I wonder if it's possible for Admin to merge these two threads, as the discussion is happening simultaneously on two threads? :-/ Nicki

Doesnt this type of heavy handed bullshit put all of us at risk especially at events. Has any club event ever been busted like this. Dont say I never speak to you, only 5 minutes ago I told you to shut up. !

Surely, this is the correct forum? I don't quite understand what someone blogging about it as well has to do with the fact this belongs in Activism, surely people can start a ton of blogs about the same topic there if they want? Plus I think it has far smaller readership, so community (or non-community I'd be surprised if I was the only activism interested person who virtally never looks at blogs unless directed from here (which has led people to get support a few times which I and others didn't know about) . De ETA ah wellllll it was on activism. maybe if people used titles which correspond to the content they wouldn't get repeated threads, we havent all got hours to read things with apparently unrelated titles.
