I posted my facebook name on IC the other day, the email address is pretty anonymous but I've deactivated it to contain the web-stalkers to here, so minimising what would otherwise just go into the spam box. | ||

Just to be aware (I haven't read through the rest of the thread yet, so someone else may have mentioned it) MOBILE NUMBERS work the same way. So if you have your personal and vanilla mobile number listed on websites (like for WORK), a google search will pull up all the information. It depends on how you place the digits and if you use quotes, etc. But someone I know really well was warned by her new sub that he had done a google and clicked through info until he had everything, including her home address, because she had registered a business there once! I had no idea, and I won't be giving out my email address so readily from now on, even though it doesn't identify me in any way (except on blood FB!) gah! In seriousness, though, just do searched on your email address, IC screen-name and your own name and guess what? Thanks, I did think about that. I don't mind hugely if ppl find my facebook as it is closed off; you can see my main pic and maybe basic info but not my friends posts etc. But yeah, it's super easy to stalk people- I've done it- most people have, it's the main point of facebook! The only way I know about people being on FB is through the Informed Consent group on there. Someone may have commented already but isn't there a way you can NOT show your email and/or contact details???? Or why not just give your first name. The only thing with my "real name" is that there is only one of me on FB!! I dunno.....
