Sunbury Munch? (41)

Just bear in mind the Putney Munch is the first Thursday. I'd suggest the 2nd Tuesday would avoid any clashes. Docklands is on that monday but is the other side of London. The third week of the month is also pretty clear of munch events - except the end of the week can clash with London.

that it is. i know we're not exactly nextdoor neighbours, but it's feasibly close enough that it could result in diminished numbers for both of us, and we know that the worst thing for a new munch is to not get enough numbers because there's a similar event happening on the same day relatively close.

just looked at the calendar and apparently there's nothing planned on the first tuesday of the next 4 months, so that could be a goer

I think you have to select a date and just go with it. You are not going to please everybody and just because there is another event on the same day so what.

My co-hosts and I on LJ's partys face similar problems. I say just stick your necks out and give it a try. Whats the worst that can happen.

One of the most fabulous things about the London scene is the amount of choice we have in the events on offer. There will always be clashes, or events that happen close to each other.

Of course, this will mean that people make choices; some events may see diminished numbers, and it might make it harder for new events to achieve scale. The trick is to give it time, and over time scale will be built by word of mouth, and the best events will do well (and the mediocre may fail).

My twopenneth on what is proposed for Sunbury - it is a munch with a difference, it has both an entry fee, and a dungeon. (Not sure, does the new Romford munch have use of the dungeon too?)

So... it's kind of like a more sociable club night with pub hours instead of club hours (i.e. not into 4am in the morning...)

Personally, I can't see many of those who work Monday-Friday, 9am to evening (not everybody by all means, but most?) as wanting to regularly go to that kind of evening early in their working week... It's more of a weekend activity. (Not that the idea of a cathartic beating mid-week wouldn't be lovely sometimes, but in the work week (speaking for myself) my mind needs to be on work (i.e. assertive, dominant traits, not submissive, relax and lose control traits)).

Given that it is a very different munch (possibly not even a munch by current definitions...?), think about what it is you are offering, when people are going to want to access that offer, and therefore when the best time to offer it is.... And remember, as I started, you will never please all of the people all of the time...

We will be charging a fiver entry but this is purely to help pay something towards hiring the venue. Soft drinks cost £1 fruit juices/ £1.50 for Coke etc and £2 for energy drinks and you are welcome to bring your own beer/wine etc which our lovely bar staff will look after and serve for you.
