What do you think we should call the meeting for O and P? A munch doesn't seem right, cos it's a little more formal in parts and will hopefully be more on-topic than off, which is the opposite of what most munches seem to be. In addition, it's not (at the moment anyway) a monthly, single venue affair, which again, munches tend to be. Therefore i think a new name would be good.
Here is some etemology of the term munch, for those of you feeling inspired to create such linguistic history. Ahem.
My first suggestion is a 'romp'. It can mean 'having fun' AND 'an argument' and contains the letters O and P. What do you think?

Or 'pomp', as in ceremony. Could stand for 'P and O meeting place'. Am i onto a winner?! mia, x "Passion should believe itself irresistible. Opus? Might depend on how much you regard this as science or art...

mia also suggested "An Open" today - maybe short for Open Meeting - a bit like an "open mike" event, in that the discussion part will be everyone saying what they want to say rather than A Lecture from one person "A Roundtable" might convey the idea of everyone being able to speak too if they want, but that may over-stress the discussion part, whereas there's lots of social time too. We could just stick with "O&P Meeting" anyway, although it does sound a bit formal to be honest. Regards, Tanos Edited 20 Feb 10, 10:44 PM by Tanos

I don't think that was me. mia, x "Passion should believe itself irresistible. It should forget civility and consideration and all the other curses of a refined nature. Above all, it should never ask for leave where there is a right of way." @Manchester

I like Open like an "open house" which sounds welcoming, but you ask for suggestions so how about an OPal? OPal OPen to all A gem of a place open to all to discuss and socialise with others curious about, interested in or currently in an O&P relationship.

i think OPen is good too. can't think of any other OP ones, but i suppose you can have an offline 'forum' and i quite like the idea of a 'parley' but then that does make it sound a bit like a game of pirates. some days it's hardly worth chewing through the leather straps Edited 21 Feb 10, 8:36 AM by dirtylittlecunt

I like OPen. The only other Op words I can think that might fit are 'opinion' and 'opportunity'

I like this as the first meeting would then be opus one, and that tickles me. Nat let us not reinvent the friction reducing rotary transportation instrument using the algebraic equation x squared + y squared equals radius... |
