I remember reading something about a kinky speed dating event that was being organised, but never heard how it turned out. Never the less the idea got me thinking about how practical the idea might be, certainly it would be a lot more complicated than regular speed dating with not only gender and gender identity to consider, but the "lifestyle role" also a headline issue. Still an interesting idea. So two questions for everyone, would kinky speed dating be a good idea? and how many people would be willing to give it a try?

It has been tried before, by the lovely The_Antisub, late of this parish. She got a venue, set a date, sold tickets, then had to cancel because women weren't interested in going to it. Initial teasing, announcement, progress report and cancellation. I have no idea as to what sort of men were coming along. They may have been coke bottle man and his mates from under the bridge or it may have been Johnny Depp's more attractive cousins. It was the women who wouldn't commit, it goes both ways. Anyone who says they are interested isn't really interested until they have paid in advance. By all means have a go at organising one, but don't pay for a venue until you have a fairly balanced number of people who have coughed up. Why don't Mecca Bingo Halls face east? | ||

Whilst the idea appears sound on the face of it, the reality is somewhat different. Unlike 'nilla speed dating, there is a more complexity - for starters, you would need to have 'matched' groups, male doms and fem subs, fem dommes and male subs, then bisexual or gay, those who are looking for a relationship and those who are looking for play, mono and poly. The list is so long it goes on and on. In the end, it is far too complicated - which is presumably why it hasn't happened. I think its been suggested before... But what about a kinky singles event? Like a clubnight or something, with some ice breaker events and whatnot. I think that was the conclusion I drew - not sure I have the ability to organise anything like that though - any volunteers??
