Update: mia and I were in town at lunchtime today and discovered that the planned venue (The Town Hall Tavern) has changed hands and is currently shut! However, we sorted another suitable venue (The Vine Inn, 42-46 Kennedy St, Manchester, M2 4BQ) with a downstairs function room. We've also provisionally booked a table for 12 people at a nearby Pizza Express at 6pm, but we can amend this up or down as necessary. If anyone who hasn't already memo'd me is going to want to come to the meal, please confirm in the next couple of days. We're now up to 16 confirmed people, and I'm about to increase the booking at the restaurant. On the day, I'll try to increase it again if necessary, but they had a couple of other large bookings already when I first made it, so I don't think we can rely on that. Regards, Tanos

What a fantastic day! So lovely to meet you all, and have chance to talk about such a fascinating array of topics. Thanks to everyone for being so friendly, talkative and willing to share. Thanks everyone who was able to come to this first Open, for making it such a great afternoon and evening. In all, 21 people were there for the round-table discussion part, and 15 for the dinner afterwards.
After the milling-around social time, we talked about O&P-D/s-M/s relationships pretty much solidly from 2pm to 5:30pm. Most of the topics centred on how the D/s relationship interacts with the outside world, and how to maintain things over time. I had a list of more in case the flow of conversation flagged, but I didn't need it as once we got started, it all just happened naturally We're hoping to organise another Open with the same format - probably in a month's time in London. I really enjoyed this, really enjoyed meeting everyone I thought there was a good bunch of intelligent interesting friendly down to earth folk - talking about D/s stuff was great Sorry if I burbled on too much and sorry again Mia for spilling your drink (I'll have to get you another one next time I see you!) |
