Well every thing seems to have gone quiet on here.
Has the euphoria of that initial boost of enthusisam died off.
Personaly I am now 23 day free of the weed and despite a few niggles every now and again I am over the worst and joined the ranks of the none smoking fraternity.
I feel better and notice that my breathing has dramaticaly improved.
So how are the rest of you doing, I notice that the group has 17 members yet only a small number have posted.
If any one out there is thinking of taking the step to a smoke free life there is real help on here and encouragement if you want it.
One last thing for those of you who dont want to stop because you enjoy smoking here is a little secret!
I did not want to stop smoking, I enjoy a ciggie, it is one of my pleasures. BUT I gave up smoking because it is totaly ilogical to smoke, there is no logic at lighting up and poisioning your body, there is no logic to shortening your life.
There are hundreds of reasons that you can use to say I CANT STOP BECAUSE! But there is one reason you cant argue with SMOking is illogical.

Hi Switch Bitch You say you stopped before, May I ask how long and why you started again? Did you use any of the aids on the market such as gum, patches etc. Regards Phil

Well like most people I hit a bump in the road and fell off the back of the wagon. It's taken me 6 days to catch up with the bloody thing and I'm now trying to scramble back on. I'll get there, I'll get back on. Think I became complacent and put myself into a stupid position. Not an excuse I know but I'd broken a tooth and was in a great deal of pain from it, I'd got myself blind drunk from soaking the tooth in jack daniels to numb the pain and I was round at friends in a room full of smokers. Not a great place to be in for a newbie non-smoker! We don't know a millionth of one percent about anything. Thomas A. Edison | ||

I never stopped for long, tended to use patches through the week, but as soon as i had a few drinks, patch was tossed and cigs were in my mouth! A few years ago i stopped for about 6 weeks, i used that drug that they took off the market as it was knocking people ill, it worked, for me, but then i had a major upset and reached for cigs again. I recently tried the new drug, but i found that made me feel pretty ill, and doc told me to stop taking it, so i think i will try the patches again. What i did find out, at smoking cessation classes was that, you can use the nicorrette inhaler, with the patches, so going to try that, cause then i will still have something going to my mouth.
The other thing i am thinking or getting is the electronic one, if anyone has it or knows about it, i would love more info

Hi PP Same as Vivien say (excluding the Huggy bit though LOL) Pick your self up dust your self down and start all over again. But at least this time you know how easy it is to give up. The bigest problem is triggers ie in your case alcohol which lowered your resistance. However remember those three words of greatest importance. Three word when you find yourself in situations that challenge your will power "ITS MY CHOICE" It wasnt the alcohol, nor was it your location or the fact that you were in a room of smokers It was your choice to put that little stick in your mouth and light it no other reason. Remember ITS My CHOICE Those three words worked for me, no books, patches, gums etc ITS MY CHOICE oh I did suck a lolly or two and chew a few sticks to combat the initial triggers but even those have finished now. Go for it PP ITs YOUR CHOICE and you can and will do it! Regards Phil
