I'm surprised to see no one's mentioned "Secretary" so far. I love that film. Edit: No wait I'm surprised to see I'm incapable of reading the first post! I look a bloody fool now. Edited 11 Feb 10, 1:25 AM by jameswr

Have you seen Maitresse, with Bulle Ogier and Gerard Depardieu? It is quite something, even though it was made as far back as 1976. Indeed, it makes Preaching to the Perverted and Secretary look quite tame. You might think, because Gerard Depardieu is in it, that it is mainstream and somewhat tame. Far from it. It is one of the most daring big screen movies I have ever seen. Here is some information about the movie on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ma%C3%AEtresse Here is a link on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Maitresse-Criterion-Collec... Then there is Belle de Jour, by Luis Bunuel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_de_jour_%28fi.... That is quite a classic. I would not recommend Pasolini's Salo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sal%C3%B2,_or_the_1.... That's just sick. You might enjoy The Marat/Sade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marat/Sade) even though it does make the Marquis de Sade appear like a sweet old guy, which, if you have glimpsed the text of either Juliette, or The 120 Days of Sodom, you would probably have to conclude he wasn't. However, the movie is quite entertaining. It might also encourage you to read de Sade's writings, although that is not necessarily a good thing (See the discussion of Salo, above). On the subject of the Marquis de Sade, the text of one of his plays is available online. You can find it here: http://www.horrormasters.com/Text/a0293.pdf It is also a play you will be able to read without feeling too ill at ease, which is unusual for de Sade's work.

No I liked that one too. Indeed, I have my own copy. I must watch it again some time. However, as a masochistic fantasy, it is a bit, well, terminal! Edited 11 Feb 10, 2:32 PM by Super_Slut_321

The Italian version from the 70s was even better. "My mother never saw the irony in calling me a son-of-a-bitch" - Jack Nicholson

Maitresse definitely gets my vote. The lead actress is hot "Social order at the expense of liberty is hardly a bargain."
