Well, if I got all huffy and self-righteous, it would only prove your point (both of them, actually). Damnit! I've been in the UK over 5 years now, so I think I'm growing a sense of humor ... though the Mercans don't think I'm funny anymore. What's a girl to do?

Hasn't had much bearing, really. Some Taurus folk want to be in charge, some want to let go of control because they feel in charge all the time. ::shrug:: Never mind that scientifically the stars have, in fact, shifted, so we'd be one star sign behind at this point in time vs when astrology cutoffs were created... I'm a Libran, too... Librans are also meant to be indecisive... I'm not so sure about that but I do know I don't want to be very sadistic. I've only ever asked a couple of subs what star-sign they are... it really seems to make no difference, either I get on with someone or I don't and I don't think it has anything to do with what their star-sign is. It doesn't. Western astrology is based on a seasonal 'tropical' zodiac that is calculated from the position of the Sun in relation to the ecliptic. Its calculated from the Sun when it crosses the ecliptic at the Vernal Equinox. Astronomers call this the Aries point. Contrary to what most people think your zodiac sign is not directly related to the stars or constellations at all. The zodiac signs are symbolic divisions of the ecliptic from the Aries point. Thus there can only ever be 12 signs in western astrology. In my astrological work I have looked at a lot of 'kinky' charts. There are some themes. Especially for dominance/submission. However, you cant reduce it to simplistic Sun signs you find in your newspaper. It requires a proper calculation and interpretation of your chart based on your exact time of birth. The Sun sign is only one bit of a complex astrological profile. Stuff like 'all Aries are Doms' is next to useless. Of course there signs that are more likely to be Dom or Sub but the Sun sign can be totally contradicted by other factors in the chart. In particular your Rising Sign and Moon sign. For example Pisces is theoretically a more yin/sub sign. However, many Pisces have mercury and Venus in Aries. and if they had a Moon or their rising sign in a sign like Leo or Aries or Scorpio they would be nobody's push over. By the way your Sun is either one sign or the other. There is no such thing as being born 'on the cusp'! Its a populist way of acknowledging one sign cannot possibly sum you up. Recognising this astrologers cast a proper chart rather relying on generalities. Incidentally, there is nothing new about 'Ophiuchus'. The constellation has been known for thousands of years. The idea of a 13th sign (like the argument the western zodiac is somehow out of date) are cynical Trojan horse arguments used by sceptics. The fact these people never actually take the time to study astrology doesn't stop them spouting this nonsense. Oh and I am Sun Aquarius, Moon in Scorpio, Taurus Rising. All fixed signs and stubborn as hell! If your talking about relationships a basic indicator showing who you might connect with is the sign opposite your Rising sign. For men your Moon sign is a good indicator of the kind of women you are attracted to along with Venus in your chart. For women its the Sun and Mars. I would be quite interested adding a few more kinky charts to my astrological files. So if your interested send me your time, place and date of birth I will take a quick look for you. Just the bare basics mind you not a free reading! BTW They record the exact time of birth in Scotland (clever people!) on the birth certificate but not so in England. So if you dont have a rough idea it will be more tricky. Its not such a problem for things like the Moon and planets but it means the Rising sign could be in several different signs as it changes every two hours. SinPar -- The weak are the most treacherous of us all. They come to the strong and drain them. They are bottomless. They are insatiable. They are always parched and always bitter. They are everyone's concern, and like vampires they suck our life's blood. (Bette Davis)

Ooooh someone who knows what they're on about... nice Saved me the effort of embarrassing myself with attempted explanations due to limited learnings... Classical astrology? Or chuffing around with all these new-fangled planets? Very insightful! Yes I am basically a classical or traditional astrologer. Most modern astrology has become a sort of astro-babble and relies on vague generalities. Its married to Jungian psychology and astrologers are often as much therapists as anything else. I use the traditional system of planetary rulers (so only Saturn rules Aquarius and Jupiter rules Pisces, while Mars rules Scorpio). In traditional astrology no signs are ruled by outer planets or any other bit of newly discovered astro-debris. I also dont use asteroids. I do utlise the outer planets if they are prominent but I dont see them ruling anything. Modern astrology is largely totally disconnected from its origins and has lost a vast number of techniques that were bread and butter to ancient astrologers. I tend to regard it as 'astrology light'. The average modern astrologer hasn't read an astrology book published before 1900. Traditional astrology relies on sources and techniques going back 2000 years. You really couldn't get any further from the horoscope in your newspaper. I have had a few people contact me wanting their basic chart analysed. As I said before the offer still stands. I am finding it helpful in determining if there really is an astrological signatures for BDSM.

I forget which university it was which once conducted a spoof survey during Saturday morning shopping crowds. They had a list of approximately 20 assorted questions such as 'What is your favourite colour?' and 'Do you think the government should bring back national service?' The researchers were actually only interested in the responses to 2 of the questions, the rest being entirely discarded. These were: 5. Do you believe that horoscopes have some truth in them? and 12. What is 9 x 14? I am sure that you can guess what the statistics showed as a correlation here... |
