But the first gig appears to be about a month away - why not wait and see what people who go say when they report back?

Clearly I am still too naive to imagine that people would do the second, whereas I guess @Admin has policed hundreds of these threads from real swingers clubs masquerading as something else, which is why they assumed the latter.

Yes, especially given the bile (on both sides in the previous thread, but on this thread too :( ) and the "beautiful people only" admissions policy.

So how about you (plural) trying another thread stressing the BDSM elements, since they would seem to be of particular interest to people on a BDSM website.

Does this sound like a reasonable compromise at all?

Yes :)

If you put in a line asking people to start their own threads rather than discussing the discriminatory admissions policy, then I'll (try to) enforce that if people report offending replies.

Thanks,

Admin

Hmmmm...Have to say, and I'm not sliming up, Admin has a difficult job to do and is sometimes required to demonstrate the wisdom of Solomon. He is, in effect, das uber uber Dom of the site, but tries to do the right thing.

I don't know what's right in this argument, but respect is due.

ETA that I posted it before I saw ^

I'm sorry to hear that the IC events board is only suitable for people who want to advertise events restricted to SM and bondage rather than a multiplicity of kinks, as I think it's a shame to define BDSM as something so narrow.

This. It would be a shame if things went that way.

Just goes to show, kinky folk BDSMers included can be just as shallow as the swingers or anyone else :)

Nothing more likely to start a lively thread than a bit of contention.

Ehen I read the advert this morning I thought it was poorly worded and poorly positioned but I made allowances, assuming the poster was from across the pond. It would have offended me if it was written by someone I knew and respected on the scene. I don't know the poster so I can't take offence.

I can't imagine it is my sort of event, given that I hate wearing costumes and I like a serious level of "play". It doesn't upset me that they don't welcome me without suitable references :-D.

I am curious how this started as an attack on their door policy and now appears to be a retaliation against Admin's door policy. We seem to easily forget that this is Admin's club and he is ultimate DM here. I'm also surprised he has posted so many times in response. I wouldn't have if I was him. Maybe I should go to this party and complain bitterly at the door that I don't match their entrance criteria.

You either want the ability to restrict entrance or you don't. Can't have it both ways ;)

I don't know what's right and what's real any more

Yup, to be honest if I'd had my way KS wouldn't have been advertised on IC until a lot more had been finalised. But, it's done. So I'm just attempting to clear up a bit of the mess.

By the way, has anyone else ever actually tried to do kink at a sex club, no matter how costumey? It seriously doesn't happen. I once accidentally called a certain boy 'Daddy' and did a bit of face slapping and people were terrified. Even the sight of a finger up his arse seemed to cause a commotion! Peter and Janet of Tunbridge Wells were not impressed. Suffice to say, a space where that sort of thing isn't allowed is most definitely not what we want!

Thank you. I'm not actually any part of this *at all*, I just jumped in because I totally couldn't understand the freezing. It's nice to be able to understand your side of it and to try and get something productive out of it. I'll make sure the organisers see this.

Ah. It's awesome when things manage to muddle themselves out. Too bad about the mud slinging.

Thanks again for being all nice and calm and yellow and smiley :)

I think peoples contention was that they did indeed match the criteria but were nevertheless being turned away. :)

I do tend to go into cross-examination mode to get to the bottom of things, yes :(

Many thanks, Admin. Seriously appreciated. :)

So much more needed to be finalised before advertising properly, and we'll make sure that's done. If you like, I'll memo you the intended OP before posting.

On the other hand, although I'm sorry for the bile and the unpleasantness, I'm pretty glad that the discussion was had, as I'm very glad we've amended our entrance policy as we have.
