There once was a girl from San Fran, Who hatched an elaborate plan, She created a party That's sexy and arty Then invited YOU- so it began! Kinky Salon is starting up in London, and the first event is Toybox! Teddy bears and creepy dolls, board games and indulgent grammas- dress in your sexy/weird toybox-inspired finest for a party that's all about all sorts of playfulness. What is Kinky Salon? A private, playful, kinky, flirty, sexy party that's high on costumes and low on role/gender expectations, we expect to have a small, silly cabaret, games, colouring books, a ball pit, and dancing to your favourite 80's cartoon themes. Couples, singles, and groups welcome, as long as they agree to abide by the Pervy Activity Liaison system (explained on our site). Be you vanilla or kinky, people of gender, queer, straight, bi or try-sexual, we invite you to enjoy and engage in our artistic and erotic world. We believe in risqué ridiculousness, mischievous masquerading, the intelligent and the inane - and we firmly believe that communication makes the best lube. WHEN APPLYING FOR MEMBERSHIP: -please either have a face photo available, or be willing/able to email one- we're looking for young, playful, sexy people to come play with us! -"we're mostly made up of people under 35, though over 35 with an under 35 partner is acceptable. Over 35s must be interesting, costumey, and have references- we want to keep the energy youthful." was the original text, hence the discussion: now, in light of that, it reads "we're mostly made up of people under 35, though we admit anyone who fulfills our ArSe (Arty and Sexy) requirements. This translates as people who are interesting, creative, have a playful sense of style and who come with a recommendation from someone within the Kinky Salon crowd. Aside from that any gender or sexuality is welcome." -please let us know how and where you heard about our event, and what about it intrigued you! Kinky Salon London ( http://www.kinkysalonlondon.co.uk ) is the officially-sanctioned version of US club Kinky Salon which has been in action since 2002: http://www.KinkySalon.com Party info: March 13th, 2010 Secret Decorated East London Warehouse Venue 9:00 PM - 4:00 AM Please join us for updates and more information here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2610149071... Hypocrite. You can be straight or gay but you can't be old. Why don't Mecca Bingo Halls face east?

A pedant writes: I think they can *be* old, as in they're not put to death at the first sign of crows feet, they're just not the desired demographic for the event. I've been reading up on the internet and apparently it's even possible to be gay or straight AND old. I was shocked. (I'll go back to reading Heat now)

They can be old but they have to be costumey and interesting, These restrictions are not placed on under 35s. That is discriminatory. When the Equality Bill becomes Law in the Autumn you will not be able to discriminate like this. Why don't Mecca Bingo Halls face east?

I don't discriminate now, I like older fellas! (so long as they're tall, posh, well hung, rich, filthy etc etc etc )

IS over thirty-five old? :splutter: well... both partners cannot be over thirty-five. I suppose fear of having to physically support a punter to the toilet if thier able-bodied support is abscent causes distress. Horlicks! lp ................bitie bitie...................

Oh dear, here we go again. Wasn't this the same thing as what happened with under 35 munches..? Let me see if I can clarify some points: -actually, the costume restriction is, in fact, placed on EVERYONE for the party. We're already welcomed more than a few over 35s to the group who have indicated they have the playful, silly attitude we're looking to create. Maybe I was insane trying to find people with that same attitude on IC, but hey. -references so far have been people who we know, friends and friends of friends. Seems to be working. -have you even read the website? Or are you enjoying fanning a flame war with your martyr complex? -do you even know me? LOL! I'm about as unvanilla as one can get. Strangely, I feel that it's ok to throw a party where sex and kink CAN happen but isn't a focus- I don't see how that makes an event vanilla by any means. -I've been helping run Kinky Salon (www.kinkysalon.com) in San Francisco for 5, 6 years, and it's not exactly just a "let's play dress up" party. Though, to be honest, I don't see what's wrong with having an event that IS a "let's play dress up" party- I just wanted one where I didn't have to worry if I wanted to fuck and/or slap my partner. -discrimination? Um. I could say that events that require latex outfits is classist, or queer play parties are homosexist, or that the many swing parties that only allow people in a certain age group are discriminating. Targeting a demographic isn't discrimination- and, frankly, I'd argue the fact we don't make anyone pay more for the event (like many parties that either don't allow or make single men pay more) would show we're trying to do AWAY with that. -Thankfully for those concerned, the venue's bottom floor is wheelchair accessible so for those under/over 35 couples, assistance can be provided. :P (though, we don't have a problem with over-35 couples- and, additionally, never said we did) I knew there would be an interesting discussion posting about this on IC, but figured maybe a few people might be interested. Of course, sex/kink/parties R SERIUS BIZNESS! "I can't tell if you're playing some kind of feminazi mind fuck game on me or if you're trying to seduce me." -Sex and Death 101

well the link for the UK site seems to be broken, but then i am over 35 and from what i have read...i really wouldn't feel very welcome so maybe that's ok then! gabrielle (an obviously fuddy duddy and past it slave) "There is no such thing as liberty. Edited to fix the link- the parenthesis was wrapped up in it It's not for everyone, granted. I have no idea if it's going to work, either! But hey. I figured I'd miss that kind of thing when I moved here, so why not have a go at throwing one myself?
I don't think it makes you fuddy duddy to NOT be into this level of ridiculousness. But I do know I've met people who WOULD get into it and enjoy it, and so, I figured I should try it out.
