Perhaps an odd one, but I was sitting here at my desk working on some photos and I picked up something off my desk (a particular keepsake), which isn't uncommon as I am a compulsive fiddler.. and I got a whiff of a particular blend of scents, and suddenly a whole memory flooded back. It's not a first time this has happened and I'm sure it's hardly a rare thing, but what I am curious about is has anyone used it in play? I've explored lots of sensory play but never thought of including smell, and I wonder why, surely there are ways of tricking that too much as white noise can with the ears? Very interesting concept. main issue is of course in working out how to use scent to trigger memories in somebody else! Something you could use to put your own mind in a certain place/mood perhaps. - Wulfy My, what sharp teeth I have.

I always have geranium essential oil on the lamp burners when I am playing at home; the scent becomes associated with the play and I can send the sub away with a cotton wool ball impregnated with the oil to smell and then recall the scene. It works as an association very quickly indeed. What is a Caracal?

I've found certain scents can make me feel rather horny although there doesn't seem to be any real reasoning behind some of them Kitty

By using the same scent in the room or on your person will always create an association to you both. How often have you been somewhere or known someone and remembered back. It can even be very subtle.. Scent is without doubt heightened even more so, when other sences have been dulled, such as blindfolds and ear plugs.. Of course it is a known fact, that if you spray a room with a scent that a person favours it changes their whole mood. The challenge is to be yourself, in a world that is trying to make you like everyone else......

Believe, readying myself to be shot down my the olfactoriphiles, that scent is the most evocative sense, and will consistently bring back memories more effectively than the other senses. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I've known one person to use the smell of hemp rope as powerful way to manipulate a blindfolded sub. Subtle and intense ... A little bad taste is like a nice dash of paprika (D. Parker) |
