Clive Anderson has just said "pony boy" during an item about a Scold's Bridle, and Fry definitely had a twinge of recognition of what that phrase means...

me thinks a visit to Iplayer is in order after the lostathon It is not a case of finding the lifestyle or the lifestyle finding you, but realising the lifestyle is within you and letting it out!

I have just watched it and funny as always. I saw one as part of a collection. My g/f asked me what I was staring at so I pointed up and explained what it was. She asked me how I knew
M Space travels in my blood. And there ain't nothing I can do about it.
I know I'm being used, that's okay cause I like the abuse.
I can resist everything except temptation.
It's always funny until someone gets hurt and then it's just hilarious.

I did though think that it was interesting that the suggestion is that there is no record of the Scolds Bridle ever actually having been used in the past and that there is also a similar device aimed at men. |

Its fascinating, as the first time I heard of a scold's bridal I was 11, in a history class, and remember having to act as disgusted as everyone else, whilst secretly getting fizzy knickers!!!
I think what he said was no real records, or something along those lines, as there are definitely records about them being used - although obviously not what "general public opinion" would have you believe.

I would imagine a Scold's bridle would work equally well on either a male or female...I can't think why there would be a 'similar device' for just men?
The Scold's bridle was used in my home village...The original can be found in Warrington museum...Funnily enough, there's a replica hanging up in my parent's garage.
Dad made it (Long story)...and no...I don't think they're kinky.
