On that day, American talk show host, Sally Jessy Raphael will be 75. Lee Evans, the former American athlete will be 63 and the English comedian will be 46.
On that evening, "popular violinist Nicola Benedetti makes a welcome return to the City Halls, Candleriggs, Merchant City (home of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra) with Sibelius' passionate concerto". This can be heard on a future broadcast on BBC Radio 3. As usual, on every fourth Thursday of each month right in the heart of Glasgow's City Centre district, the all-inclusive Glasgow's Thursday Munch will take place from 8.00pm till midnight at the flagship Glasgow renaissance style J D Wetherspoon bar and restaurant. The venue is The Counting House. There is two entrances. If you enter through 2 St. Vincent Place G1 2DH. Head towards the nearest corner room on your very right. If you enter through 24 George Square (West). Head towards the nearest corner room on your very left. We meet in the corner room which has a very big painting of Mary of Scots looking out to George Square on one side and St. Vincent Place on the other side.
The nearest Central Glasgow subway and principal train stations are Buchanan and Queen Street respectively. Both stations are right next to each other and only walking distance to our munch. If you cannot be bothered walking from Central Station - there is a First Glasgow bus no.398 from Gordon Street bus stop which will take you to Queen Street Station. Parking spaces near the venue, in and around George Square should become more freely available after we move away from the evening rush hour and may depend how busy City Centre late night shopping will be. Hot food and hot drinks will be served until 10.00pm and 11.00pm respectively. Soft drinks and alcohol will be served until near closing time. No one is in charge of this wonderful munch. We do encourage everyone whether you are a newbie, oldie, single or attached to try and make an evening of lighthearted, good humoured fun and friendship for everyone. We also encourage everyone to go to any clubs or munches of their choice throughout the UK. Please everyone do have a nice time at the Glasgow's Thursday Munch! Hoping to make this, which will be my first munch. (Please be gentle with me Coming back from Inverness that day so it is dependent on trains being on time and (as ever in my life) luggage (I swear I am ruled by my damn bags). We're both in town Thursday night with work ppl (male half will be in the counting house as it happens, god knows where the mrs will be. lol)and would like to pop in to say hello.
