There are many issues with this. We PDs get many enquiries from people who want to be PDs. They want to pump us for information, learn our skills and get advice on how to deal with the many problems we face.

Why would we assist a competitor?

This.

I shared a lot of information and the space I used with a friend who was interested in PDing... even had her sit in on some sessions and taught her some techniques... though in doing so, she ended up with most of my regular clients. :/ Live and learn, I suppose! Doubt I would do that again though.

Put simply; Some pro's are a benefit to this website and others are simply in it for what they can gain and wouldnt dream of helping others..

You get good apples and bad apples in every cart.

This is so funny. How many industries are there who are happy to share their secrets with their potential competitors?

Well, we photographers do but that is mainly because whilst you can teach the techniques everybody has a different way of seeing and of taking pictures.

Hairdressers have apprentices and I can see some parallels between the sex industry and personal services like hairdressing etc.

Just my tuppence worth :)

Yes, personally, I don't have any problems with teaching others what I dp. As redgerbil says, we all do it very differently, and the results are unique.

I'm really sorry to hear that :(

If someone really has the aptitude and drive to do this as a career then they'll find a way to do it, and if necessary they'll do it the hard way too, which is always the best way to learn in my opinion.

I know of several noteworthy very professional Mistresses who advertise Mistress Training on their websites. There are also books available,DVDs etc. Most Mistresses have their own preferences and idiosyncrasies so it is probably best for your friend to have some idea of her own special fields of interest. There are many training courses in specialised techniques on offer around the UK. If she does eventually decide to become a pro dominatrix equipment, premises hire and website maintenance can be prohibitively expensive however equipped dungeons can be hired by the hour and are easily searchable on the IC listings as are 'kink friendly' website services. My first recommendation to any new pro domme however is to keep detailed accounts as you never know when the taxman will come calling...

What a shitty thing to do to you! Sorry to hear that. Whatever happened to concepts like integrity, loyalty, gratitude etc?

Playing devil's advocate here: does that the mean the New Kid so to speak was better at some things or offered something that Kitty did not?

I've shared many experiences with other Dommes (pro or not) and I have found that my regulars come back to me no matter how many new Dommes set up in the area. They might session with other ladies at times because it's fun to do so, but generally speaking I have never lost a customer I was sorry to loose to another PD.

I find it strange that someone new who was being trained by a Domme would end up with all of the Domme's regular customers. Surely a sub comes to see you because you're offering them that special connection, the kind of play, looks, intelligence, personality?

ETA after considering The Marquise's point:

And... is it her fault that the subs go to see her or the subs' fault? Did she actively 'groom' your clients or did they go to her because they chose to? That might make a big difference in whether you train another Domme I think?

I agree with your post about exchanging skills, but this thread is about an experienced PD teaching a newbie who could hitch her wagon to your very experienced and successful train and then bugger off, set up shop in the same town and undercut you whilst offering the very same services.

I also don't believe that we are all that different to quite a large % of clients :(
