Ok, I have recently aquired a new pet doggie :P

& at present she walks around on her hands a knees, but we both want to make it more realistic by having her arms bent and tied to she walks on her elbows and the same with her legs.

But how long is this safe for, she is willing to do it for as long as possible, but I am sure there are health risks or somthing by having your elbows and knees bent for so long.

Anyone experenced with this?

Ouch. Walking on her elbows sounds incredibly uncomfortable and very unnecessary. I don't know any puppies who do this, they all use hands and knees with knee pads. The upper arm is much shorter than the thigh, so it will be hell on the neck, the elbows and the back.

Hi Tails,

Might be ok for short periods but I wouldn't in my own case.

Joints are meant for movement and not to bear loads directly as any mishap would result in a greater chance of buggering (insert joint). Restricting movement with your body weight distributed over a wider are, such as knees, shins and feet is less damaging, especially if your playing for extended periods.

Enjoy though

Use pads for elbows and knees - try bike shops or skater shops. You need to be careful to secure the pads without cutting off the blood supply. I've had some success with strong tape, taping on the pads with the limb already bent. For actually securing the limbs, try stretchy bandages, which will need to be fairly loose, again to avoid cutting off blood supply. Even with all this my puppy can't be a puppy for very long. But it's loads of fun :D

Positioning her arms on the lower part of her neck as opposed to right on the ends of the shoulders, tends to ease the supply of blood to the hands (especially the pinkies!! owie!!)....i hope i've explained that ok. Brain isn't functioning o_O

As mentioned before, skate shops are good for elbow pads and such, but i'd really consider going to a dance shop where they have knee pads for contemporary/jazz/break dancers, they're designed with movement in mind. If they have the full lycra backing as opposed to the straps, even better.

Ditto for elbows, as the straps are horrible!

If she's new to walking around on all fours, then take it easy..probably start walking around for like 10 mins? Let her get used to how that feels, then 20 mins etc. Till you've both found a period of time you're comfortable with.

(also...if she gets really tired...she can just roll on her back with limbs in the air and take deep breaths for a bit. Not really puppy like, but it helps)

There was an Insex scene (mild mummification) a wee while back that featured this, looked sore.. she haded padded cups taped onto the "stubs"

I saw a cat suit that stopped at elbows and knees (closed) but i cant find the link, maybe someone else knows it (German? pricey and good looking)

i would echo the painful, not-meant-to-do-that overtones of this thread, but it could be fun for a short while.

Hi Tails Try this site for ideas, My slave and I know this poodle reasonably well and take it from me she is a poodle full head space the works, the legs she wears does not allow her to stand therefore relegated to all fours. www.downbitch.co.uk/puppyplay_events.php

Hope this helps

the following pic is on fetlife; it sounds just like the "look" you were aiming for.

From my experiences it is more of a posing pic rather than for extended puppy mode; if you are getting knee pads look for the knee pads which tilers use. I find the gel ones are more comfortable than the hard shell ones ( I picked up a couple of pairs in black for £7) .

I'm more of an aged rescue dog so the puppies may be more pliable but pressure on the elbows and knees (especially on a hard surface) will take its toll.
