I wouldn't be surprised if there had already been a thread about this that I've missed along the way, but I couldn't find any, so here's a new one!

Well, we've all seen the adverts: a latex-clad assassin called Bayonetta who spends a lot of her time strutting around, wiggling her bum and getting off on her own violence… Could this be my introduction to the world of compulsive video gaming? Quite possibly! This does sound like the sort of game I could play until my fingers are red raw and I haven't slept in days - though it could also turn out to be a bit of a busman's holiday for me. Is a Domme's unpixellated life really so different?

Here's an excerpt from Jordan Deam's review for The Escapist:

“Ultraviolence: A term derived from the 1962 novel A Clockwork Orange denoting unjustified and stylistically excessive violence.

BDSM: A compound acronym referring to the sexual practices of bondage and discipline or, more generally, the gratification of sadistic and/or masochistic impulses.

As a gamer, you've no doubt encountered plenty of the former; and as an internet user you've probably stumbled into material relating to the latter more than once, intentionally or not. But never, in my extensive experience, have these two practices been synthesized so completely and with such as much abandon as they have in Bayonetta. It's an intriguing feast for the senses that, thankfully, also happens to be a f**king blast to play.”

Has anyone here actually played it? What's it like?

The first time I caught eyes on the game was at Eurogamer last year and even that short 2 level demo was enough to convince me.... The first time you stomp on the enemy with a 100ft high heel, or whisk them away to a torture chest I deny anyone to crack a smile :)

I would heartily recommend it, especially on the Xbox 360 (the PS3 version is a little poor in comparison)!! I just feel bad having control over such a strong feminine character... surely it should be the other way around? lol

Here's another link for a second opinion :) http://corporalkitty.wordpress.com/2010/01/16/re...

p.s. for any other gamers out there that haven't heard of this somehow, think Devil May Cry with a twist

I've seen it on PS3, and it was shoddy.

Bad graphics reminicent of Devil May Cry 2 (the bad one), camera issues that brought tears to my eyes and once again trying to sell a game by shiny and sexy graphics that arn't real gameplay.

Nice concept, bad game.

But then I'm a games dev student what do I know?

Uni is bliss...

It looks good, I was drooling far more over the hardware than her, not had a chance to play myself, but from what I hear, it's all over far too quickly, and not worth the cash you need to splash out...

And I'll leave it at that ;)

I was very interested at first but the gameplay style put me off.
