I am a very spiritual Person and for me, the Darkerside of my being is intrinsingly linked to it and particularly to that of my partner. ( When I eventually have one ) lol... Im wondering if anyone here feels the same or infact, even the opposite, that they are even poles apart. Never the twain shall meet.... Would you say, BDSM in whatever form it takes, reaches to your very soul ? Would it then make it spiritual, or not?

I'm not sure if for me, there's a massively strong link between bdsm and spirituality but I would certainly love to meet a partner who I felt some kind of spiritual connection with.
I don't necessarily mean religious compatibility either, more along the lines of you know that feeling where you meet someone and in your head you're both thinking "fuck! this was totally supposed to happen"..that kinda thing It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice | ||

i find bdsm very spiritual ,it is one of the ways i can be totally honest in a space with someone i trust and open my selfto the flow of energy between us as parter dom and sub and open our selve to higher energies | ||

At one time thought that BDSM was completely incompatible to my very strong Spiritual views and I wrestled with this thought for years as both forces are so, so powerful in my life. I then slowly realized that both can go hand in hand and to I learned to embrace the two forces with no friction at all - the way the Creator wanted us to. He made every BDSMer the way he wanted - special, and I think with a lot more postive qualities than vanilla peeps. I definitely believe there is a Spiritual connection in a BDSM relationship as there is so much love, intensity, trust, energy, etc involved. I know I had a strong Spiritual connection with my BDSM play with my ex partner and the love was so intense at one time it was 'scary'. lol. I hope to meet another partner with the same views as myself and hit the Spiritual highs and the sub highs again. If Carlsberg made subbies............ | ||

Interesting questions. My submissive isn't on the site yet, so cannot give her view, but I am an athiest, she is the opposite (but not the whole story as far as she is concerned). I do however believe that there is a human connection with the rest of nature (or should be!) on a spiritual level. I don't however subscribe to any modern religion. My sub and I do have a mental connection even when we're apart, but I'm not sure that's D/s dependent, as there are couples who wouldn't know what D/s was if it hit them in the arse (punn intended), who have very close almost telepathic relationships. What D/s has brought to us though, is it allows her to (cliche coming up) free up her mind and body, away from her very demanding everyday life--and as such it is at that time more than usual I instinctively know how she will respond to whatever occurs. I can sense what and when and how a particular action on my part is needed to generate a particular response from her...as anyone will tell you, that doesn't happen in five minutes though, and patience from both pays off. I'm a lucky guy. 2 upance worth supplied. Suffering becomes beautiful when anyone bears great Calamities with cheerfulness, not through insensibility but through greatness of mind.

I have to agree. The most intense times I have had are with a deeper connection, especially with the trample. As a Buddhist I practice living in the moment, using my full attention to what I am experiencing. When you do this with another person, you become more aware of their reactions and maybe even feel what they are feeling to some extent. I think with Fetish/BDSM'ers attention to detail and trust are taken more seriously (although not always the case). AND NO ITS NOT LUST The same awareness is used with spiritual practice in martial arts. It all works in harmony with mutual respect and trust. As I am not a sub, I have not experienced "sub-space". From what I gather, is this like a moment of ultimate bliss? | ||

hmm i might struggly to make sense with words here but for me intense lust is like a crush where I think about someone lots and lots. a spiritual connection is where (cheesy as it sounds) my heart literally feels like it's popping out of my chest and needs to be glued to the other person, almost like our bodies are (non sexually) supposed to be joined. I dunno, liek we're part of one whole. I'm really struggling to describe it but I've only ever felt it with my first relationship so maybe it was a young love thing, but having said that, I still feel that the person in question, well I just totally "get" her on every level. Like she makes soooo much sense to me. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice | ||

Like you, I'm a very spiritual person, but in the past I've gone through a phase of feeling that BDSM was opposed to my spirituality. However, as I've explored my BDSM side more I've come to the understanding that in fact they are not separate at all. Being spiritual for me means letting my true inner self come alive in my life, and that also happens when I live out my BDSM impulses and desires. In a very real sense I become more fully myself and more intensely vital and alive when I express my true essence and BDSM is an intrinsic part of that, so yes it does indeed have an inner or spiritual aspect to it for me at least. There used to be a pro-domme in Canada called Mystress Angelique Serpemt who specialised in the spiritual aspects of BDSM. I don't think she's active any more, but information can still be found here Silklover2 |
