You think that Ellie Goulding is a complete unknown? Then as an outing thread to uncover people who have been living under a rock for the past three months or so and know nothing about the music scene, this thread has been a roaring success. I was initially quite excited to hear Goulding's stuff, considering the hype presently surrounding her. Sadly she's a mediocre singer (not really an issue: most bands are fronted by mediocre singers) masked by a massive production job (more of an issue: the production garbles the whole deal) and her songs lack any hooks. As an obvious cookie-cutter stand-in for the far superior Little Boots, she falls well short.
