We Win Wars, But Lose to Snow (14)

Snow, snow, snow - and more coming. It's falling as I type, I just stuck my nose out of the lounge curtains to have a peek. It's very pretty, but this being the Youkayyy, means everything grinds to a halt, because we can't cope with any weather extremes. Just world wars n stuff.

I'm very glad one of our Christmas gifts was to sponsor a homeless person for the year. One less person sleeping rough in this bitter weather can only be a good thing. I hope they feel safe, whoever they are.

There are fox tracks through the snow, all over the garden. They've availed themselves of turkey, several out of date chicken breasts and various other things. But they've left the seafood, and who can blame them! Wise ole foxes.

I've been working already this morning, but no sign of me removing myself from my jammies and dressing gown yet! The trains are on emergency service, and the roads haven't been cleared. With more heavy snow forecast at noon, I don't want to risk Lunnun.

Today I wish I was 15. My daughter is off school due to snow. I remember that feeling of elation, wow a whole day off school!

Meanwhile, I'll get ready for work...

I've been out in it in my truck without any real trouble, the main roads around East London are fairly clear and it is fun watching the look of fear in peoples eyes when my bloody great lorry comes round the corner!

Drive safe everyone, better to arrive late than dead, ontime.

Treat problems like a dog would.....If you can't eat it or fuck it, piss on it and walk away.

This is the first time in the 5 years I've lived in the UK that I haven't budged out of the house for a snow day, braving the sidewalks, tube, buses and crowds to bravely get to work on time.

Question is: should I bother now, considering it will probably be a horrendous commute home tonight!??!!?

Answers here please:

Well, 44 tonnes of articulated lorry looming out of the snow does tend to make people require fresh shreddies I suppose.

Well I walked the 1.5 hours into work got there ON TIME, took 3 calls from my 3 admin assistants then the powers that be say - its getting worse its, too dangerous, we're shutting the office, go home.....so another 1.5 hours of trudging home through the snow, dont know why I bothered!

Home now so gonna have a sleep, wash the floors & then start my search for our new house :)

What did you sponsor the homeless person to do? I hope it wasn't a fun run cos that'd be cruel, those guys don't really look up to it and it's bloody cold.

If you can keep your head while all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, you might want to stop waving that axe around.
