and of course there is always the 'clue' even i couldn't ignore... when their Partner rings you up and asks why you are all over their phone bill! He rang me so often, and at such times, that i was convinced he couldn't be attached. Beware the dog walker, who can call at any time of the day or evening

In the first and early days of internet connections a freind of mine had this chap she was getting to know, and he used to have the most amazing excuses in the book, it got so funny that when she had arranged to meet him we would sit there and say to one another, 'who will have died or had an accident this time' as that was his usual sort of excuse on one very very sad occasion he said he couldnt visit as he had cancer and had been taken into the hospice with only a couple of days to live.......... funnily enough he is still alive 6 years later, has moved house and pulled the same stunts on several women since excuses included *his mom had died* *his daughter had a car accident and his grandson was in life/death in hospital* *he broke his arm, * *he had a diabetic attack and was unconcious of 4 days before being found* my freind actually went to his place to see him, and found several things around the flat that pointed to a 'significant other' on another site he still tries to make contact with me, asking why this friend wont talk to him, and he is just so tied up in hiself he truly dosent see what he has done wrong, i just ignore him in fact i think i dont even open his memos, i just delete them unopened

Yes, D8, the excuses are wonderful. Discovering they have cancer? Your friend must have been talking to the same guy! My thread has clearly served its purpose as I have had emails from a couple of people who know exactly who I am referring to and have had similar experiences. I just hope others realise and stay away from him. Maybe the cancer schmuck is reading this and thinking about what a sad individual he really is. As for anyone else who reads this far, let me also warn you to lay off those poisonous banana cocktails in the New Year - I can't remember what they're called now .... ????? They go by more than one name. Good luck and stay safe. annie Edited 30 Dec 09, 10:46 AM by andie1

I've chatted to this guy too. Before he disappeared he was quite busy! And to help with your memory loss - I think the cocktail you forget the name of is daiquiri.

Just so you know
Maybe because I've just started up in business that I need to be easy to find but for some unknown reason they've taken me out of the recent phonebook and I certainly didn't ask for it Happiness is a warm bum

Also ask for a recent candid photo. Not one that is a few years old. Not one that shows them in thier best possible light. Just an ordinary, bog standard picture taken that day. With digital cameras and cameras on phones it's not a big ask these days. I once met with someone who's picture, whilst genuinely of them, turned out to be the most flattering pic ever taken in the history of photography.
My pics are all of me and pretty recent - anyone who's met me knows they're not flattering at all - quite the reverse. I'd prefer to pleasently surprise someone than disapoint them Be the change you want to see in the world. - Gandhi.
