If your God/Allah/Jaweh/Shiva/Buddha/any other deity, he (or she) indeed would be omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.... just considdering. Why would he/she/it need the worship? Or the obediance? Or even the belief? "Class is the impartial, consistent display of emotional integrity." Edited 19 Oct 11, 9:35 PM by othyim

Coin flip ftw. Everything is binary innit. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power.

However, Craig has given some rather specious reasons not to debate his ex-pupil John Loftus, a former Evangelist minister turned atheist. As Craig reportedly said some years ago that he would fear debating a former student, his "cowardy custard" taunts to Dawkins could easily be turned on their first cause. The remarks he makes on that webpage have done more damage to his crusade than a wilderness of cloned Dawkinses. Edited 19 Oct 11, 9:51 PM by Arry_le_Switch

If some of the posters above go back to the beginning of the thread, they may reconsider the nature of the point. God does not NEED us to worship Him. Worship is an invitation - for OUR benefit - to love and intimacy, knowing Him and enjoying Him. As I pointed out on page 1 "Remember too, that the commandments God gives are for OUR sake, not His. God does not have an ego problem - His self-knowledge is total, He does not need to be told how glorious He is. Just as He tells us not to murder, because that is for our own good, He tells us to worship Him, because in doing so, we find OUR ultimate fulfilment. What worship means then is "enjoy the full depths of a relationship" - or, even more simply, God asks us to LOVE Him, because in doing so, we can enjoy Him, and find the satisfaction of discovering more powerfully than in any other way, what we were made to be. Worship is for our good, not His".

No. But that may well be just due to my overweening confidence and lack of self-awareness. Given that you just put "AnEnglishMaster wrote", and there are a number of my comments prior to that post (some quoted from ages ago), it is hard for me to know which particular posting has led you to spot my desperation. If you care to elucidate, I will see if I am able to provide a coherent response. English "It may be that your sole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others" - Anon

By the way..... as this thread began in 2009 and has lain fallow for a long time, shouldn't that provide to the sceptics evidence that Resurrection is possible? English "It may be that your sole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others" - Anon |
