ting pissflaps. And that's swearing that is.
After reading great reviews I upgraded to a Nokia 5800 back in February. Despite anecdotal evidence afterwards suggesting I'd bought a lemon I've had no problems with it, in fact it's been rather ace – easy to text, interweb (welcome to the world of tomorrow!), free applications and a smart music player.
The screen was a bit of a worry though; it looks quite vulnerable, but it's survived admirably, considering it's lived in my pocket through rough and tumble with lil' Skyhook, squiffy nights out and me crawling under robots at work with my spanners (don't ask).
A shame then, that there was a sickening crunch sound tonight as I caromed past the pram and into the corner of the computer desk. Aye, I've muldered my phone. The screen has gone colourfully tits up. It's deader than disco.
The outer screen is unmarked, but the display shows a nice bright bullethole crack effect. The phone still works – it's just that I can't make anything out on the screen.
I'm not a happy camper…no phone? No texts? No music or web to distract me? I feel like I've lost an arm.
And then I realised I'd probably have to send the phone away to be repaired – not that I can afford it. Do I feel lucky? Are my saucy photos on the phone itself or the memory card? Can I do a factory reset to wipe it all if I can't see what's on the flippin' screen?
Google is your friend… replacement screen ordered to fit myself.
I apologise in advance to everyone who suddenly finds tomorrow that there are a lot more hours in the day and have to work instead of reading and replying to texts from me ![]()

Check whether you have insurance...they cover accidental damage. You may even be covered through your house policy, though that varies. Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. (R. Frost) |

You could have used Nokia PC suite to view the entire contents of the phone and tied up as required .... GF2 Subs are like kites - they only fly if you hold the string ... |

Your lucky, i've replaced the screen on my nokia 6500 a mind numbing.......SIX fookin times. I work in the building trade and despite phone covers and keeping it in different pockets nothing has helped. Cheap enough off ebay but the quality is'nt the same. The nokia suite helps to retrieve numbers and texts but thats about all. Thankfully a new phone is on the way. |

I have this phone! It's fab, for the price I was more than happy - although I will be sure to avoid the corners of desks from this point forwards! XxX |
