I recently heard a radio show that was talking about the difficulties of finding gyms for strict muslim women. The point made was that a lot of women tend to "let themselves go" because nobody can see what's underneath the burka. But the woman running the gym said that women should work out to maintain a good body because when you go home to your husband and take off the burka, he shouldn't want it to be put back on. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Even 5 minutes from my house I am often in short skirt with the 32 DDs on display and more women are covered than not. I'm not going to change how I dress because of their religious views but I won't be revealingly dressed at mass tomorrow. Thus locally I can look very uncovered but simply because others choose to cover themselves. Mind you most of those covered are about 15 stone as you can see through the way the robe is pushed outwards so it's not in most cases covering gorgeous slim curvy eastern girl in exotic lingerie.
Yes, dungarees and long robes too can protect you from being seen as a sex object but if you are not allowed by law to drive or work and only get fed because you keep your husband happy, dress sexily for him etc then I don't think the good deal those in countries like that or cultures like that get is very good at all. Mind you perhaps the obesity of some in a way is a cloak they put on to hide their sexuality to no one will come on to them. I don't know. I'll get back to something simpler because I get squashed under the excess flesh of the many IC fat acceptance society members.

There is more cosmetic surgery for beauty reasons in Iran than most other countries apparently. Presumably it's not contradicatory - women are covered because they are the property or men and when they are with men they are sex toys. That's all pretty consistent to me and politically and morally objectionable. (You're not going out dressed like that for men to ogle over because I'm so insecure in my hold over you that I think I'll lose you and I have pathological jealous issues, but once you're a home you'll dress very sexily just to please me) Whereas the more religiously pure nun or lesbian always in boots and trousers/ short hair would be in effect covered always as a religious/political statement or at the other extreme I always like to feel I'm dressed reasonably sexily whoever I'm with and even if I'm home alone.

Yes, although it cuts boths ways. I've heard Muslim women say they like to cover up so they feel free from the pressure to be sexy or judged by looks. I've heard many western women get a lot of unwanted attention in Muslim countries when they are not fully covered up.

If the society is geared towards thin is in then the larger person will be more reticent about showing of thier body.I am also minded about people who have been disfigured or have lost a limb or become blind and some peoples attitude towards seeing them.I have heard more than once"oooh why can't they cover themselves up".To me it is them that should open their minds not the people cover up.
Not that I should too closely couple the above with being gorgeously rounded.Being big is in my opinion no disabitlity at all but rather the converse. |

Why only yesterday I posted on FB to mention that I had been amused to see a woman in Ann Summers, doing her best to peer at a 1/4 cup PVC bra through the eye slit of her burqa. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I know a few people who work in Arab countries where women wear the burqa, niqab etc and they tell me that there are some amazing lingerie shops where you often see women buying outragous sets to be worn underneath and it's a not very well known fact that ladies really 'dress up' underneath.
And this week Barbie released 3 different versions of a darker skinned black haired 'burka Barbie' wearing traditional Muslim dress. No idea what she's wearing underneath tho!

On the lingerie point, pop into M&S on Oxford St and see all the Burka-clad ladies buying their kinky underwear!!! Or maybe they're Burka-clad cross dressers, TVs or TS's!

Indeed. But most of them remove the labels before they go back to Arab land. M&S's Jewish heritage is a real 'no-no' back home. |

Strange then that there are M&S stores in the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia!

What a fun article! It definitely had me going!
Being a Muslim who lived in a Muslim country for a lot of his life, the religious symbolism of the burqa is so strong, and one is always told they display an individual's modesty.
As many have pointed out however, many women explore their naughtier side with what they wear under the one piece cloak.
I know my ex used to wear a Princess Leiagh bikini under hers.
And as a sub who craves humiliation, nothing turns me on like the reversal of religious attire and position of power. Fun times!!!

I just find the face is so vital for communication that the burqua annoys me.
